Green course at White Clay Creek-Carpenter, on a 1:10,000 map Nominally 4.4 km, 135m climb. Temps near 50 to start, rising to upper 50s by the time we left. Slightly breezy in the open areas near start/finish.
Added extra distance on the way to #1 as I left the start in the wrong direction (oops!), with an audience (Brian).
1- After my initial misdirection, I headed toward the road but stayed in the woods/trails and attacked from the trail to the S of the ruin. Had to fight a few pricker bushes which tried to steal my hat. 2- Stayed in woods; Brian caught up and passed me on this leg. Saw Annie here. 3- * S to the trail to avoid the olive green/out-of-bounds near the buildings, then took indistinct trail and crossed rough open and went right by the mapped tree. Flag was a bit higher up reentrant/stream than I expected. 4- SE to trail then S and zig-zagged to the rough open near the foundations, but had to climb (better than going through the green?) 5- SE to trail then trails to hunter's stand (under beeline WNW of control) and over to reentrants 6- E to the large trail by the creek...easy 7- W toward N-S trail, but staying in whiter woods untilI reached it, then S to big trail, W to junction, and took the left fork trail that went right to the stream/reentrant, though the flag was farther upstream than marked (at the stream junction at the edge of the circle). A route I hadn't noticed was to go SSW through light green to a trail bend which would have been shorter, but I don't know whether any faster because of slightly thicker vegetation. 8- * Biggest error here when I believed the mapping of the trail and got confused when there were no "boulders" near the bridge. Turns out a new bridge was built east of where it's mapped, near the other boulder, which is under the beeline and outside the circle. I should have corrected better knowing I hadn't been on the trail long enough. 9- Climbed a bit to go around gully and contoured to the field as much as possible 10- A slog F- A slog, but at least I could run because it was flat

Up Bowood and down Aberdeen, taking the loop up the hill in the normal direction (clockwise).
Walked by the firehouse first to investigate the grading they've done for a new sidewalk connecting the walking path around our community to the sidewalk in front of the elementary school and new park just beyond. I wonder whether they'll put in concrete or macadam.
