To start of Long, at Camp Shea in the Turkey Mountain area of West Point (i.e., almost to Harriman). Starts were not far from the road junctions/bridge downhill from Camp Shea and the finish location. Low to mid 40s with off and on light showers (rain held off until we were leaving), so not as soggy as it could have been.

Brown Long, at Camp Shea. One Brown course for both men and women, 3.3 km, 110 m climb.

I had a decent run with good routes, except for my execution of the end of the 3-4 leg where I attacked from the bend in the road west of it and missed; reattacked from near the bare rock hill with west-facing cliff S and still missed, then decided to go higher on the hill (figuring I could find 5 and go back) and stumbled into it. Several minutes lost there, I'm sure, but without the error not enough to threaten Linda K who had a good run again today (after winning the middle yesterday in F 65), so I was 2nd on the weekend, and happy with that result. Awards (for sprint, and also for combined middle-long times) are coasters with an image of West Point's point overlooking the Hudson with map snippets on two edges.

To start of Middle at West Point 40th. Windy and mid 40s. Doesn't include about 70-100 from bus drop because watch didn't have satellites. Also, track should start at the trail junction, not up the hill. :-)

Middle at Victor Constant Ski Slope, West Point. 2.1 km, 50m climb (per map) on Brown X course. I think AP's calculation includes some cliffs we didn't see. :-)

A bit right on 3 and unsure, and wandered below the rock at 7 wasting at least 5 minutes there...dumb.

Did take the road route 5-6 which I think was best/fastest.

Brown Sprint at the Post on Trophy Point, 2.1 km, 25m climb*. Windy at the start, mid 40s, and showering lightly when I started. As I crossed the road to the start triangle a Rolls Royce had to stop to let me pass. ;-)

Pretty happy with my run beyond 1) having trouble finding the start triangle, 2) trouble seeing the staircase from parking area west of 4 so a delay there, and 3) delay at road crossing on the way to 15 because again I had trouble seeing the gap to the stairs. And I was using a magnifier as well as my glasses!

Surprised to catch up to Janet F who'd started 7 minutes ahead but she had trouble finding the (somewhat hidden) flag at 5. After 5, she would race ahead, and I'd catch her when she hesitated or went the wrong way. After my Middle experience at the Flying Pig with inside corners I was being careful to read the control descriptions well. Linda Kohn mispunched, I think at #6 where there were controls in two building corners *just barely* far enough apart.

15th overall on Brown; 1st in F65. :-)

*EDIT: AP splits seem to think the course was 1.82 km, not 2.1 km.

Variation on my neighborhood three-mile loop to get a bit more climb. Temp about 70 and partly cloudy, with a pleasant breeze from the west.

HR spike seems pretty bogus. Wrist HR isn't to be trusted.
