Orienteering race 1:53:10 [4] *** 6.95 km (16:17 / km) +246m 13:50 / km
spiked:9/13c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #3

Green course at DVOA NAOC training (Stuckey Pond). By preregistering, I got a 1:10,000 map. :-) That really helps in this terrain. Temp in the low to mid 60s and sunny (perfect!).

EDIT: Added Garmin track. Course details: 5.6 KM straight line, 205m climb; 13 controls

Never really too far off but uncertain in some parts of the map (near 5 and 8; map and FR later), where an extra (unmapped) relatively open hilltop keeps messing with me, so lots of hesitating. Should have chosen different routes to those two, too. For 13, thought I was on east side of stonewall when I was really on west; a bend uphill alerted me that I had gone far enough. Stopped and looked downhill for the only boulder in the area. Very nice course, and I did a bit better here than I've done before.

Saw 3 snakes, a garter, and two black ones (king? racer?). Someone said they saw a bear! (near where others have been sighted in the past)

Orienteering 22:00 [2] **
6c shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 #6 - H

Control pickup at Kinns Road, mostly at a walk with a few jogging sections. Not much climb; I didn't have to go down into the stream bed.

Orienteering 20:00 [1] **
5c shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 #6 - H

Picked up a few more controls. Went down the steep hill.

Around the south "block." Jogged in 1st and 3rd miles (on downhill sections).
60F and very nicely sunny, just a bit of a breeze.

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

Good class.

SI may or may not be available this weekend, depending if our SI guru solves computer problems. We might have to sprint using pin punching!

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

Using bands (what's left of them, anyway). Nice how she makes the hour fly by.

Fitness equipment (elliptical) 35:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #4-Y

Didn't really feel like doing anything but did this anyway; some program at level 1 which seemed hard enough. Will hold off doing intervals another week, partly to let my quads recover from rogaine, and partly to let fumes dissipate more (they refinished basketball courts last week, which are just below the track).

Note

Weight back up. Funny how long events mess with hydration and water retention... Should be off by the end of the week; then I just need to fight the Autumn devils to avoid snacking.

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

In Chatham; start of the next 6-week session. Triceps still very tender from my fall (faceplant) on Saturday so I used extra-light weights for those exercises. Other muscles sore or tight but not restricting.

Got some of the grass mowed (including some that hasn't been trimmed for a month!). More tomorrow which should be another lovely day.

Yesterday's travels home from Montreal included a stop at Jardin Nelson in the old city which has delightful crepes.
