Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

In Chatham. I noticed the leg muscles I worked on the treadmill yesterday.

Sunday Mar 14, 2010 #

11 AM

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

Sunday at the Y, partly because my weekday instructor Mary was subbing, and partly because I wimped out on O in CT (windy, cold, possible rain... my favorite conditions---not!).
12 PM

Hiking hills (treadmill) 1:00:00 [3] 3.89 mi (15:26 / mi)
slept:8.0 shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Hills on the treadmill (2.5-8.5% inclines) on a variable course. Listtened to "Wait, Wait..." and part of Fresh Air segment on the recession.

Walking warm up/down (treadmill) 5:00 [1] 0.26 mi (19:15 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Someone in my car dealership sent me an e-mail congratulating me on my car, purchased in January of 2006, being 5 years old.

Should I laugh or cry? Blame it on a time warp?

They also suggested I come back to visit sometime. I take all our Hondas to the dealership for service (yeah, I know, probably more expensive than a local mechanic, but I can trust the dealer, right?), so I'm there every 3-4 months.

Whew. I feel better now. :-)

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

At the Y, with weights for added effort. Lunges, which my knees don't usually like, but I did okay with them.
11 AM

Running (treadmill) warm up/down 5:56 [2] 0.5 mi (11:52 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Running (treadmill) tempo 18:28 [4] 1.85 mi (9:59 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Walking warm up/down (treadmill) 10:16 [1]
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Note

Knees not bothering me like on Tuesday, so ran today. Listened to Fresh Air episode on Carolina Chocolate Band, and the start of the segment on movie directors nominated for best director at the Oscars.

Wednesday Mar 10, 2010 #

9 AM

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

In Chatham. Bit of stepping, aerobics, and strength plus stretching, of course.

Someone FINALLY installed the new front door at the Legion hall where we meet--the old one had missing weatherstripping and a bent bottom edge (metal door). The new door had only been hanging around in the corners for over a year.... Looks really nice.

Pilates class 55:00 [1]

At the Y. We used the exercise balls today; tough on some moves (like frog).

Followed by treadmill, which I'll log later.
11 AM

Running (treadmill) warm up/down 5:52 [2] 0.5 mi (11:44 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Warming up for a run on the treadmill... but my left knee started bothering me (it had also acted up a little during Pilates), on the inside which is a new symptom. So I decided walking was in order for today.

Walking (treadmill) 34:48 intensity: (4:40 @1) + (30:08 @2) 2.26 mi (15:24 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

Walked while listening to last week's Wait, Wait... episode. That show always makes me chuckle at least once, so it's good distraction from the boredom of treadmill.

2 miles with speed set to 4 mph and inclines between 1.5 and 5 %; cool down walk ~1/4 mi.

Knee adductor machine to try to keep the inner thighs in shape to keep knee in line.
3 PM

Walking 48:47 [2]
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #4-Y

After getting my car's oil changed in Albany, walked at the Pine Bush Preserve area called Rensselaer Lake, or Six Mile Waterworks (I assume it's 6 miles from downtown Albany...). At a fork in the trail I stayed along the edge and therefore along the highway (this park is located near the I-90 / I-87 interchange at Thruway exit 24) but should have taken the route that went into the woods and made a loop. Didn't have the Preserve map with me, though there was one in my car...

Saw several runners, most likely UAlbany students as the campus isn't all that far away (probably less than a mile to get there from the closest dorms/apartments), though they have to cross a busy intersection.
