Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

Easy class in the heat and rising humidity of this morning (in Chatham), no stepping. I was going to skip stepping anyway because my left calf (on the outside, about where it and the soleus connect to the Achilles) is still sore from my ankle turning over and twisting a few times in the last hour of the rogaine.

Orienteering long (rogaine) 5:41:56 [3] 13.0 mi (26:18 / mi)
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1

CNYO Rogaine near Pharsalia, NY with Glen (Team Ramble On), 6-hour division, coed category. Super weather (mid-70s) with partial sun, no rain, low humidity, few bugs. Only a few areas of crappy raspberry brambles that we chose to go through (most of them mapped very well; others had extended beyond mapped areas). Well mapped, well hung, and just a fine time had by all.

Not too many teams were signed up this year -- what's with that? Is Rogaine a dying format, or do we just have too many choices?

1st overall (6-hour), 1st coed team.

Had my Forerunner keeping track in my pack (I did not look at it once!). The 24-hour rogaine covered more territory, of course, but this map shows the controls most 6-hour competitors visited (or tried to), and my track (Glen's mileage may vary :-) ). Distance is per Glen's FR (mine showed 12 mi, but may have lost signal partway).

Walking 33:26 [1] 1.85 mi (18:04 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #4-Y

Easy walk past bridge to intersection by church in Malden Bridge.

Creek is MUCH lower than it was last week at this time. :-) The canoe is still hung up on the tree, however. I don't suppose it would do anyone any good for in its present condition...

Note
(sick)

Headache and stomach upset. Spent day in bed.

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

In Chatham. Slow workout because it was hot and stuffy in the room despite the open doors and windows. Good stretching, anyway.

Hiking hills (treadmill) 41:00 [3] 2.5 mi (16:24 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 # 3

At the Y, after taking Glen's car for inspection/oil change. Warmed up at 1% incline for 0.5 mi, then varied incline from 2-9 (hill walking intervals) for the rest.
