Running 15:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (Orange/Blue)

Slow jog to the start, thought I was nearly there then a sign said another 500m. So I ran up the steep hill and went straight in. Interesting re-tying both laces and stretching/drills whilst moving through the start box, much to the annoyance of everyone else..

Orienteering race 56:54 [4] 8.0 km (7:07 / km) +270m 6:05 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (Orange/Blue)

Pretty good today, it was a nasty area with head high bracken. I had a early start (10:21) which was less than ideal. The area tracked up loads and was described as a "motorway" for the late starters. Just cruised round and orienteered well. Not tired at all when I finished.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)

A pretty lame warm up..
Ankle tendons still sore.

Orienteering race 1:01:33 [4] 9.0 km (6:50 / km)

Scottish 6 Days - Day 1
Fast start in nice woodland, then a few slog controls in thick heather and marsh. Felt tired but held it together, pleased with the result.

Mixed Sprint Relay is awesome!!

Note

Brilliant week on camp. Nixon was an inspiring lead coach and gave some invaluable sessions. Great to feel a bit more involved in the sport after all this time out being a punter.

Note

Manned some hale bales on the Sprint qualifier. Apart from the several hour wait it was fun to see the elites come through. Met a nice American lady.

Hung controls.

Orienteering 2:30:00 [3] 10.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (Orange/Blue)

AM Craig Leach
Fantastic area, really gear contour features. Hung controls and shadowed around the 4.8km course.

PM Little Mill
Hung a few controls while it rained hard. Felt so tired I had to have a sleep in the car whilst everyone ran.

Orienteering 3:00:00 [3] 15.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons (Orange/Blue)

Utah Lochans
AM.
Ran out to start of compass star exercise and hung some tapes. Then across to the D&D course which had areas of dodgy mapping so was tough to hang controls relatively quickly. Got back to the car as the squad arrived. Dying for some lunch but had to hang some more controls and run back to the start to shadow people around the course.

PM
Lunch at the area. Hung some more controls, shadowed several people and then collected.

Big day. Bonked (low energy&dizzy) before lunch and got one control in the completely wrong place. So annoyed!! Luckily it was the only one of the week.
