Orienteering race (Kings Landing White) 55:30 [1] *** 2.8 km (19:49 / km) +27m 18:55 / km

White course with Lailah - we covered over two miles with some detours to walk on the boardwalk and look at the marsh. Lailah ran lots and said that she was having fun. Cookies from Amy helped. She only asked to be picked up once, and that was near the end when we were walking across a field where the grass was a little high. I picked her up for a couple of feet but then encouraged to finish on her own, and she did.

I picked up the camera on the way back before doing the last three controls. Wish I had had it sooner.

Proud and tickled.

Lailah didn't like the tree branches that she had to reach through for this one.

I told Lailah we were looking for 15o. She said that o wasn't a number, and asked if it was really 0. Made me laugh.

Lailah checking the codes - this one wasn't ours.

1 PM

Orienteering race (Kings Landing Orange) 45:28 [2] *** 3.5 km (12:59 / km) +60m 11:58 / km
shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

After Lailah got picked up, and with Tori manning the computer, I went out on this fun little course, though a bit on the easy side. Woods were beautiful. No real errors, just a little slow in spots. West Point is going to kick my butt this weekend!

8 AM

Biking 59:14 [1] 10.01 mi (5:55 / mi) +35m 5:51 / mi

C&O Canal - ride #1. Outbound was nice. Saw the blue heron.
9 AM

Biking 55:28 [1] 9.97 mi (5:34 / mi)

Return trip was a bit more painful with the clutter of clueless masses. Seriously, bridge - cross single file, please, pretty please. Agh. Painful area through Great Falls, and then back to peaceful parts. And, really, it was such a beautiful day, followed up with meeting up with Sarah and Lailah for a Sarah to Grammy hand off.
11 AM

Mowing/Yard (Mow lawn) 10:00 [0]

Lailah helped me mow the lawn...it only took twice as long as usual.

Lailah was a bit overdressed, so for planting flowers, she went in and changed to the white shirt to match Grammy. Load of laundry after.

2 PM

Swimming (with Lailah) 1 [0]

Pool with Lailah. Very crowded with lots of 14-18 year olds in the 3' area, but Lailah was undeterred. She is doing so well, jumping in, going under, and even paddled across the width of the pool two times without stopping. Yeah for Lailah!

Misc (THE DVD!!!!) 40:00 [1]

Bike ride didn't work out, mostly because I am a wind weenie.

Did all of the DVD except I could not do a sit up, couldn't even raise myself partly off of the floor - pathetic. Did V-sits instead. Need to work on this more often. My arms are shaking.

Swimming (50 laps) 29:15 [1] 0.71 mi (41:11 / mi)

607 r11 554 r17 546 r16 528* r25 600

*today's motivation was the woman amputee (below the knee) swimming in the lane next to me. Got on the same cycle with her and had to put everything out there to keep up. I would get her on the turns, and then she she would catch me just before the next turn. Repeat x 10. Fun but glad she went to backstroke for the next set. :)

Right shoulder has been a bit sore. The timing is right to take the next few days off from swimming laps. Will try to bike the next two days, tomorrow to work and Saturday early on the C & O canal. We shall see.

Running/Walking 47:00 intensity: (37:00 @1) + (10:00 @2) 3.45 mi (13:37 / mi)

Walked out and then ran and walked back and then just walked. Strong headwind outbound. Just a drop or two of rain... No inhaler at work, so lungs on fire. Hamstring still stiff and sore but felt better than my lungs at a certain point.

Swimming (80 laps) 46:49 [1] 1.14 mi (41:13 / mi)

Left hamstring painful from Sunday, so skipped biking to work and went to the pool instead.

Wow, what some motivation/determination to keep up can do. The swimmers on each side of me were woman doing about the same speed, or a little faster. So, I had a 10 lap PR (532), and a top 6 overall time, and that included 100 BS to break things up. 2

2:27 of rest in seven little chunks.

Note

1 Aleve and topical to left hamstring and right hip.
