Swimming (50 laps) 30:00 [1] 0.71 mi (42:14 / mi)

Really tried not to do this today, but I was so awake, and before I knew it, I was at the pool snagging the last lane at the 7:30 opening time. Finishing up the last lap as another woman approached to share the lane - perfect timing.

Quick shower and then off to the o meet.

5x ~6 min with 20 minute rest.
9 AM

Orienteering (Greenbelt - Orange) 1:04:33 [2] *** 4.0 km (16:08 / km) +90m 14:30 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

3.082 miles with 147 m climb

Despite the earlier swim, I also wanted to get out on a course today, but I have decided that needs to be earlier vs. later. Picked Orange because Brown looked sort of yucky to do...

Tried the IceBugs today, and while my foot hurt initially, it calmed much sooner than with the hokas. The fact that my hip was super tight was more of an issue since I could not run at all for the first 30 minutes, and that part of the course was made for the runners. Oh, well, it was a very beautiful day, I finished a course, and, so far, the only tick I found was still crawling.

S-1 Trail run - 14/14 (split rank/overall rank)
1-2 Trail run - 10/11
2-3 Road run - 16/12
3-4 Some nav, but flat and open - 14/12
4-5 some nav but still wide open - 14/11
5-6 tough leg for Orange, walked and nailed it, gained 6 place, as I expected I would - 8/5
6-7 initially some sorting through crap but then long trail run, lost two places - 7/7
7-8 Trail run with climb at end, poor split but maintained overall - 12/7
Now, we get into the tougher nav...
8-9 as expected, while the control was just off of the trail, it was in green, in a pit, and the flag was only visible when you were on top of the pit, gain four places, which I maintain the rest of the way - 2/3
9-10 long trail run if you made the right choice, finally loose enough to run a good bit of the way, control trivial at the end - 6/3
10-11 trail run - 9/3
11-12 poor route choice, not liking that we have to cross over the creek again and venture into the green slash. Take an out of the way route choice. 6/3
12-13 Ugh - green briars! Ugh - green briars! Ugh - green briars! Found the control on the other side of the magnificent rootstock. OK, now off to the finish!
13-14 450 meters later, I punch the Finish control. OK, not the most wonderful way to finish a course with the last two controls and the long "run in" to the finish, but I made it!

Biking 58:00 [1] 10.22 mi (5:40 / mi) +252m 5:16 / mi

Late start but got it squeezed in between nap and early dinner. Wanted to quit after 5 minutes, but by that point I was down the hill, so I decided to go for 10 minutes, and then 30, and then for the whole hour, which was the original plan. Huffed and puffed on the minor hills outbound on the Four Mile Run trail.

Hate getting out in the afternoon on a beautiful day since the trail is cluttered with walkers and talkers and the clueless. Sadly, the only person I had issues with was a female roadie who made a pass on two rent-a-bikers with me oncoming, and almost caused a head-on collision. In retrospect, holding my position and shouting "Jesus!" wasn't the brightest move. I should have gone on to the grass instead. Have to remember that going out early morning is much better. Will try to get out to the C&O canal next weekend.

Swimming (50 laps) 29:10 [1] 0.71 mi (41:04 / mi)

Darn, I cleared my watch by accident, but the sets of 10x25 yards were all back under 6 minutes, including the first one. I'll call it
550 r30 x 5.

No tunes since I had left the ipod on last time, so just listened to my breathing and try to get into a rhythm of pulling strong. I guess I did that.

Pool (Treading water) 10:00 [1]

Jumped into the warmer pool and did 30 seconds egg beater legs with hands on top of head, 30 seconds scissors kick with hands out of water, until the 10 minutes was up. Seemed to go by pretty fast.

Biking (to work) 34:00 [1] 6.53 mi (5:12 / mi) +16m 5:10 / mi

Rode in at lunchtime.
4 PM

Biking (and back) 35:00 [1] 6.0 mi (5:50 / mi) +661m 4:21 / mi

Had to walk up the hill. Didn't even try to ride up the steeper parts. That's OK since it was a beautiful day for a bike and a walk.

Swimming (50 laps) 29:58 [1] 0.71 mi (42:12 / mi)
weight:200lbs

613 r29 604 r22 555 r20 555 r33 551

New suit - other one stretching out, especially with Lailah pulling on it when she jumps in. A little thicker than the other one. I like it.

Tried to swim hard and not coast through the 30 minutes. Some rollicking country music helped.

Pool (Treading water) 10:00 [1]

Timed my exit from the water poorly since it coincided with the elementary kids finishing their lesson. Useless to go in the locker room at that point, so I treaded water until the coast was clear. All legs, mostly egg beater and then some scissor kick for the last few minutes. Arms out of water with 30 second intervals with hands on head. Those were hard.
