Race Timing: EX2 12 Hours CM - Quantico

ex2adventures.com

A long day, hot (90+ F) day! Up before the 4:30 AM alarm, after maybe 2 hours sleep spread over 5 hours...home 17.5 hours later. Though, by that point, the car was unloaded, and I had showered, and started on the post-race bottle of wine. Results will be done soon, or not, um, probably not. And, as someone pointed out to me, I didn't have to ride any nasty MTB for 12 hours. Though, I feel as wrung out as if I had ridden a MTB, at least for one hour.

Using a new SI lap timing software for the second time. Not as stressful as the first time in May. However, having Roger call me at 8:38 AM (slacker) to tell me that his car wouldn't start was a bit stressful. Felt badly, but then I didn't. Seriously, he could have asked at least one neighbor for a jump and taken the car somewhere, anywhere!

Yup, the wine is kicking in. I will stop now before I say anything I will regret later.

Trail Run (Prince William) 2:29:03 [2] 10.1 mi (14:45 / mi)
shoes: NB 1064 Blue

Took the day off. Was in the area for a site plan review for tomorrow's 12 hour MTB race timing, so stopped at PWNF first

Humidity lower today but stil plenty warm at almost 80 at 8 AM.

The usual loop. Not feeling too peppy. Nothing in the tank when I was done.

Later in the day, I copied J-J's advice which Peter mentioned in his log - rode my old bike down to Phoenix Bikes and donated it. It is right below the house in the park, and they do good things with getting kids learning bike repair to earn hours towards picking a bike for their own. I think Jesse was impressed by the quality, or maybe he treats every bike like it is fabolous. Unknown bonus - they are charitable organization. I even got a recipt.

Beat the Burn Basement Biathlon - Event 1

Too hot outside at ~100 at the nearby airport and 97 at the house, so to the basement for a core workout. Three in one week, but will it last?!

Running/Walking (Treadmill) 43:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (33:00 @2) 3.65 mi (11:47 / mi)
shoes: NB 1064 Blue

Beat the Burn Basement Biathlon - Event 2

Five minute warm up (.3 mile), 3 miles at 5.5 mph, 5 minute cool down (.35 mile).

Biking 2:06:00 [2] 22.5 mi (5:36 / mi)

Work to airport, to Georgetown via the Key Bridge (accidentally headed that way, so I went over and back), out to Bluemont via the Custis Tail (very hilly), to Lee Highway, and then home on the W&OD.

Part alone the Potomac River was lovely. Temp at finish was 96, feels like 99.
