Trail Run (Greenbelt Park) 1:03:15 [2] 5.0 mi (12:39 / mi) +71m 12:07 / mi
shoes: Asics Weebles

On the way back from meeting Francis to drop off the epunch equipment for tomorrow. Sticky 80 F. Did some of the Perimeter Trail which I hadn't been on while orienteering. Lots of action in the park with runners, group of hikers, and people doing volunteer work.

First time running since the BG weekend. It felt decent enough, though I walked any uphills.

My right hip/lower back area is still very painful while sitting, and then screaming pain upon standing. Once that goes away, it is just tender to the touch.

Note

I need to get a foam roller so I can see if it is really magic like it was when I used one at the Gagarins. My right hip area is locking up, and is extremely painful again...

Note

So, it is June, and I still have ~$900 of $3k in my flex spending account to spend before September 30 (includes the 3 month grace period). Not sure how I was so far off this year, but I guess that means I was fairly healthy - can't knock that.

I am trying to come up with some qualifying expenses. Good pair of subscription prescription sunglasses? Good idea, but money still left. Any other ideas?

Biking 27:00 [1] 5.64 mi (4:47 / mi) +4m 4:47 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

OK, I am a really weeny cyclist. I brake all of the way down the hill. I have no speed on the curves, and no natural lean. But, I am finding that I really enjoy the ride more then the drive. Also, it is somewhat liberating to not be tied into going to the Central Office each day.

However, I also notice that I can go the whole day without seeing another person - in and out of my private entrance. Probably not so good for me.

It surprises me how much I still enjoy this ride, the same route every day. Granted, I haven't done it hundreds of times, but I have a really short attention span.

I get excited about different challenges along the daily route:
Will I get the light at Walter Reed?
Will there be someone roosting in the tunnel?
Will there be anyone I have to negotiate or wait for as I go over the Mount Vernon Av bridge?

OK, all pretty pedestrian, but if it keeps me interested enough to want to do some more rides into work, so I will take it.

I did have my closest run in with a car today, and I was in the wrong, having ridden into the traffic when it wasn't clear.

Biking (Ride home) 31:41 [1] 6.0 mi (5:17 / mi) +49m 5:09 / mi

Lots of headwind today.

Flowers from a couple of weeks ago, just so you didn't visit my log to see the same old ride to work and home...

Biking (Ride to work) 28:00 [1] 5.67 mi (4:56 / mi) +3m 4:56 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Ride in to work which includes a little bit of stopped time.

An updated picture of the current piggies, since I was talking about them to Peter and Gail while I was visiting... Here are Ralph (front - male) and Pointer (back - female).

3 PM

Biking (Ride home) 30:21 [1] 6.0 mi (5:04 / mi) +59m 4:55 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Record time!! 29:59 to the front door. WooHoo!

Of course, I added a teeny bit more to make 6 miles.

Can't believe it has been almost three weeks since I cycled into work. I will have to do better.
