12 PM

Running (Warm up/down) 25:00 [2] 3.7 km (6:45 / km)

Orienteering race 38:10 [4] 5.71 km (6:41 / km)

Terrible race. Started fairly cleanly, but then just tried to push it too hard without a plan to 4, got stuck in some marsh/tussocks and it went downhill from there. Never really felt that I could push it, got caught by Lucy then struggled to stick with her for a few controls just not getting into gear. No way of knowing how much of that was due to last bit of illness/not giving myself time to recover, and what would have happened anyway.

Running (Warm up/down) 25:00 [2] 3.4 km (7:21 / km)

Orienteering race (Sprint Heat) 16:04 [5] 3.2 km (5:01 / km) +20m 4:52 / km

After recovering fairly quickly from thursday, didn't feel I could quite justify not running, especially as so short. Legs felt okay. Pushed it fairly hard, was okay for the first section, then was really suffering after the crossings. Just tried to hold on, but was absolutely knackered by the end. Biggest mistake probably to the first control...
3 PM

Running (Warm up/down) 20:00 [2] 171.43 km (7 / km)

Orienteering race (Sprint B Final) 12:28 [5] 2.42 km (5:09 / km) +15m 5:00 / km

Again, pushed hard from the start, happy with the first few, then lost time just before the first road bridge. Overall, pretty clean. Breathing was ridiculous the whole time once I'd got into it, excessively fast and probably too shallow, but was just trying to give it my best shot.

Note
(sick)

Woke up about half 4 again, had paracetamol then back to sleep until about 9. Feeling generally a bit better, but dad had a look at my throat and decided we should go see the doctor in case anything could be done to speed up recovery and increase my chances of running this weekend.
Predictably doctor said she couldn't do anything as only option is antibiotics, and as it's probably viral anyway this isn't particularly helpful. But as always (ie the 2 times i've been to see the gp in my life) as soon as I went to see them I felt better. Still on the paracetamol, but reduced dosage. Went into town in the afternoon to meet up with a friend, take my mind off the illness and start some positive thinking!
Looking likely that I'll run Sunday, but doubt I could put in decent performances both days. Filed an illness report with Sarah last night, so hopefully missing the sprint will make me well enough recovered to give the middle my best shot, but not be held against me.

Note
(sick)

Slept okayish.. from about 2am kept waking up every hour or so. Then got up at half 5 to have breakfast and a lemsip as I'd been awake for the last hour and was really hungry. Then went back to bed and slept for about 4 hours. Feeling generally better than yesterday, but very sore throat and worryingly my left tonsil has gone black...
Really annoyed as I was looking forward to a good weekend of racing this weekend. Suppose I shall have to see when I actually feel recovered enough to exercise, or even leave the house. Perhaps I won't run Saturday in the hope to race on Sunday.

Note
(sick)

So didn't sleep well due to sore throat, shivering when trying to get to sleep then waking up in the middle of the night being too hot. Really out of it when I got up, had some paracetamol then napped on the sofa for about an hour. Spent most of the day either asleep or watching tv. Then about 8pm got really bad stomach pains and had to throw up. And go to bed without dinner.
