Orienteering race 1:44:21 [1] ***** 4.6 km (22:41 / km)
shoes: Falcon

Pawtuckaway Green course. I went from the "thrill of victory" on leg 6 on the Big Island, where the last 250m or so I was reading features correctly, to "the agony of defeat" on leg 8, where I flailed around quite a bit, failing to relocate on anything I could identify. Could not match coast features or land features. Eventually, while trying to bail to the paved road, I happened upon a stream that lined up with one I could find on the map. This relocation allowed me, at last, to find the control and finish the course.

Orienteering race 1:44:00 [2] ***** 4.4 km (23:38 / km)
shoes: Falcon

Pawtuckaway Green course, mostly walking, occasionally jogging to hit a collecting feature.

Paddling 1:10:00 [1] 3.0 mi (23:20 / mi)

Took the canoe out to see how my L shoulder could do with the paddling motion. Answer: not well. So I leisurely toodled around, circled Horse Island and found a few control locations.

Mountain biking 13:00 [1] 2.5 km (5:12 / km)

Beaver Brook, solo. I found the pump track, took a few turns around it unencumbered by other bikes. I have not yet got the rhythm down pat. Also took a pretty good spill when my front wheel went into a hidden ditch that I knew was there, just not its left/right extent. I thought I could clear it, but instead it ate my wheel and I went over the side. No blood, just lots of dust and dirt. Stars!

Now it's really time to replace the helmet.
