Warm up. Wierd that the moment I started to run on the balls of my feet, my archs hurt and became tight. I walked for a bit and they loosened up, only to return later and then go away again. Almost abandoned the TT!

Ran Durston pretty well, only 17s slower than my all time record. Must have been the pootl'ing start. In fact, that was the plan, to slowly ease into the TT pace. Glad I did too, feeling strong on Durston was awesome!

Another skills session, this time at Forsyths Mill. I took stinky out on the dirt for the first time and I'm in love ... on the downhills ... and filing for divorce on the up hills. 22kg! That's a mighty lump to push uphill, no wonder the baggy shirt wearing DH riders walk these things up hill.
Jacko, Joel, Liz and Dolf came along today. We did an ultra slow lap, stopping at each obstacle that we thought we could improve on. I found it very helpful myself as I had to explain what I do. To do that, I had to think about what I do and figure out what it actually was. Good to process all that info.
Joel was hampered a bit by his bike, or specifically, the position his bike put him in. He had too much weight over the front wheel for single track obstacles and I only realised this after telling him several times to lean back to put weight over the rear wheel. After doing this several times, I actually opened my eyes and saw his arms were completely straight, no bend at the elbow.
Dolf took to the obstacles like a duck to water. I actually thought I should reduce my encouragement when I saw him launching over the jumps but he did just fine always looking like he was in control and flowing well.
Liz was a bit tentative on the bike initially. I keep forgetting that she's new to riding the MTB. She looked slightly more comfortable at the end but more time on the trials is needed I think. Once she gets comfortable with the bike moving around under her and sorts out positioning her weight over the front or back, she'll rocket along.
Jacko looked like he was holding on with a death grip at times on the first lap. I think this made it harder for him to get over obstacles as it made him lose more speed over them than the others. However, on lap 2, Dolf, Jacko and me went for it. At least I did up hill, while Dolf and Jacko cruised while while we went uphill. I looked back a few times and spotted Jacko looking much more relaxed and even getting air and landing it smoothly, letting his legs and body act as another layer of suspension.
Sooooo rewarding to see the Ranga's enjoying the singletrack and taking jumps with smiles instead of grabbing the brake.
Forsyths Mill MTB TT and boy was it fun.
Nice time too, about 4 minutes quicker than last time with busted front forks (they were stuck). Mind you, last time was 2 years ago so it's good to see that I have improved since then!
