Rogaine race 11:54:00 [3] 70.0 km (10:12 / km) +1165m 9:25 / km
shoes: Montrail Mountain Masochist

Upside down rogaine with Juffy, who deserves to have the next garmin named after him.
We had planned a route up to 50k, ending in the NW corner, with a couple of bail out options beforehand. The intention was to get as far as we could then make up a route back on the fly. We started out with Tooms&Andre just ahead of us for the first couple of controls, then they disappeared for a while, but couldn't stay away and eventually came back to join us in a Rogaine dance that lasted almost half of the course with each of us taking turns leading.
We seemed to be traveling well, able to run comfortably when needed and luckily no injuries or foot troubles to slow us down, other than a slight pain in my left glute when marching up the hills near the end. It caused me to fall a little behind Juffy going uphill and I needed the occasional jog to catch back up but it didn't bother me on the flats or downhills.
It was great to have the race within a race with Andre&Tooms, I was pretty sure they had a control or 2 on us but not 100% and I think they may have thought the same. We certainly seemed to be spurring each other on with quite a few running sections lasting a little longer than if the other team wasn't there.
A few run ins with tRicky/nicki/Steve who always seemed to be traveling well and plenty of other teams (lights) could be seen throughout the race.
Once again I just tried to soak up as much nav info as I could from Juffy, I like the way he navigates and I was mostly able to keep up on the map but would definitely need to slow down for a lot of the less obvious features during the darker hours. I don't think the darkness made much of a difference to his nav though.
Our second 4th and by far the furthest my legs have taken me in one outing.
Legs pretty sore and tight for a couple of days but no injuries and great to still be able to run strongly at the end of the rogaine rather than limp in.
Good times.

Run 38:14 [3] 7.02 km (5:27 / km) +67m 5:12 / km
ahr:145 max:159 shoes: Montrail Mountain Masochist

Early morning run. Legs not accustomed to these early starts and hardly wanted to move at all so I started off nice and slowly.
I headed north through the newer part of Butler then over to Marmion Ave before a very annoying last 3km with the first half being stung by the sand blown across the cleared land and the second heading straight into the wind.
