Corn Maze Classic Championships. Things happen so fast in the maze. Many big mistakes, including finding #14 7 times. Twice on purpose (first time when I was looking for 4, but following the wrong line; fortunately it was not a bad route to the real 4). During the middle I passed Gail 4 or 5 times on a couple of controls, showing the advantage of careful walking over running too fast. Total loss of contact on #6, finally bouncing once again off 14 and then at least knowing where I was. Unaccountably around the wrong side of the eye on the way to 7. Found 17 before 16, which should have made 17 easy to find, but went to #59 first both times. Toughest one was 19. Ended up back at 18, then relocated off my own car outside the maze. How embarrassing. Great fun!

Corn Maze Relay. Teammates with Ian Smith, an extraordinary stroke of good fortune. First leg was the JV group compared to the second leg speedsters, but presented its own challenges with all the bodies milling around. Off near the front to 1 and 2, but followed Ken against my better judgment and turned off one turn before 2 in a crowd (a character failing I have exhibited before). Mostly settled down, but back and forth with a pack, then approaching 7 decided it was complicated, slowed down and walked the last part, past lots of people running all which ways and standing still, so spiked 7, and just as important spiked the route back out, and found myself behind only George as I headed to 8, feeling very confident sending Ian out for leg 2, which he sped around expeditiously. Really fun. Crazy running around with so many people in the maze.

Some warming up, then 5x3 of front squats and 5x2 of thrusters. Worst of the front squats was some tightness in the low back, so held it to 85#. Thrusters seemed problematic for both back and shoulder, so only used 35#. Then we ran up the hill and back (maybe a mile). R is quite a bit faster than I am now, even on downhills.

Followed by a short loop with Sassy. Had a near AOWN moment. Heard some thrashing off to the side, assumed it was Sassy, but then saw her about 40 yards ahead on the trail. Who was it? Gone by the time I looked.
