Note

AOWN. Went down to check the little pond this morning and found huge masses of eggs along the shoreline, so set about returning them to the water. Seemed like they were still pretty cool and moist, so I'm hoping they will survive.

cycling 1:22:00 [3] 18.69 mi (4:23 / mi)

With Rhonda, from Pleasant Valley up Sandy Brook until it seemed like a good idea to turn back. Legs a little wobbly on the last stretch, and bottom a bit tender. First ride of the season (second for Rhonda, who went on Saturday).

Orienteering race 1:20:44 [3] 5.8 km (13:55 / km)

Day 2 at Pine Hill A meet, and another unsatisfying experience.

PT exercises 35:00 [3]

shoulder exercises in the gym with Erik and Zack, each of us on his own program.

Note

AOWN. Attempting to dismantle the beaver dam at the little pond, and clearing the culvert. Once the culvert opened up, it was almost a forced culvert crawl. Lots of pressure. Plenty of help from Sassy and Hazel.

Here Sassy and Hazel patrol to keep any beavers at bay. Note the interesting little critter catching a ride on my neck.

Note

AOWN - first whippoorwill of the season, singing along the trail down to the little pond tonight around 8 pm.

Orienteering 1:15:08 [3] 6.1 km (12:19 / km)

Day 1 at Spring Runoff CSU meet. Sinking feeling when I flipped the map and saw it was all dark green and, even worse, purple lines. Still mad enough to rant: What is the purpose of making a whole map green? This was quite a contrast to the really fine maps and courses last week.

PT exercises 45:00 [3]

shoulder exercises, chatting up Zack. Zack left after while, and it was getting tedious, so I skipped the theraband ones.

Running 28:38 [5] 3.2 km (8:57 / km) +130m 7:26 / km
shoes: NB MT840

RhinO. Hot day, and feeling a little stiff after crossfit yesterday. Still a pretty good effort, and PRs on legs 5,6, 8 and 9. Starting to wear some trails in a few places, so I may have to find another route.

PT exercises 50:00 [3]

shoulder work while Rhonda did the bike and the treadmill. Very slow progress, but certainly a lot more when I do the exercises than when I don't

Gym 7:00 [5]

20 reps each of 8 exercises I used to do. Haven't done these in quite a while, so kept it to 20. A pretty good little workout for 7 minutes. Chatted up Zack while I was at it. He was doing a little buffing up himself.

Note

This was from last Friday, Oskar's first day on a unicycle.

RhinO run in the light drizzle. Fine running weather and best time on 13 of 15 legs. A PR by almost 2 minutes.

PT exercises 1:00:00 [3]

Working the shoulder again. Have to keep it up. This was rather a communal activity as Erik was on the treadmill doing his interval workout and Oskar and Zack were buffing themselves up and trying to inveigle me into a benchpress session. I resisted, as I had things to do, and certainly not ready for any significant benchpressing. Currently I am doing sets of 50 with a 10 lb bar which works out mostly ok. Harder psychically than physically. Also hardest near the bottom, where the mobility is most limited.
