Orienteering race 2:06:00 [4] *** 8.2 km (15:22 / km)

Paugusset red course. Physically very hard, particularly on the heels of shoveling stone for two hours in the morning. A few mistakes, but mostly just not able to run, especially uphill or through thick stuff. Mistakes: #2 didn't comprehend how much I should be going downhill and ended up too high and right, and fooled by an additional N/S wall (albeit a low and not so obvious one); # 5 drifted too far left and had to correct a fair distance; #13 a substantial hesitation and looking around when I didn't understand that the flag was hidden further down in the reentrant; #15 up the reentrant too far and had to double back; and #19 flag was on wrong cliff and I didn't look far enough back and to the west. Very sore after.

at the river with Rhonda. Both of us feeling pretty gingerly.

Wednesday Apr 1, 2009 #

Gym 45:00 [3]

Rhonda's morning class, very well attended (nine in all, including Erik's mom and two of his high school friends). Did what I could, and then spent some time on the bike and other exercises.

Gym 20:00 [3]

Circuitwith five exercises, 1 minute each, 1 minute rest, and repeat 3X. Just used a bar for ones that involve the shoulder, and dialed down the intensity. Exercises were squats and throws with medicine ball, deadlift with high pull, 20" box jumps, push presses, and rowing machine.
