Orienteering race 46:58 [5] *** 8.9 km (5:17 / km)
shoes: Inov8 x talon 212 #3

NOY 5 at Stanford Scrubs in the rain. Ran straight onto the incorrectly placed #1 so no troubles there. pretty solid early on i thought. drifted too far left on the way to 7 so probably lost 30 secs there. then a big mistake on #10. was a little unsure on my compass but came out spot on where i wanted to be. but hesitated because i couldn't find the track that should have been there. went in on my bearing anyway but no luck. relocated back to the track and ended up at the big road to the east. back to the first spot i originally came too which was right then in again, and nailed it this time. track didn't exist which was annoying. would have lost 3 mins here. pushed hard for the rest in anger but still ended up losing by 2 mins to steve. will be interested to see splits, thought i was moving well and with aggression today

edit: yep, splits confirm i lost it at #10. also lost more time than i thought at #7

Running hills 40:00 [4] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Nike Free Run +3 (blue/red)

Hills at King Edward with Nic, Angus, Sal and Kazza. Good solid warm up then I did 6 reps of the longer hill. pretty happy with these, felt strong and consistent. first one was a bit quick, 46, but then the rest were all around 51 secs, and the recovery was constantly around 58 secs which i was probably the happiest with as my recoveries usually blow out as the session goes on. took some gopro footage off us all running up the hill but the lens fogged up as the session went on which was a shame. then 6 of the shorter hills. tough for me to do these between work shifts as i didn't have much time at home in the end.
