Aus Long champs. cautious start trying to get used to the mining and the 2.5m contour interval. lost time on 2 by going into the wrong erosion detail then fell and grazed my hand on a rock which bled a lot and distracted me. because of this i didn't really plan a route to 5 on the long leg and was just running straight which meant i was bashing through the swampy and thick creeks which made me lose time. plus i popped out not quite where i wanted to and took me some time to realise. oscar caught me 4 mins here and i tried to stay with him but fell off after 2 controls due to lack of fitness. missed 10 and lost a bit more time, then started to feel really tired on the way to 11 at only half course distance. slowed down a lot but this helped me in the mining controls and i got them no worries. pretty much walked the massive hill to 14, then was really focusing on my nav to the next few cos i knew that was the only place i would make up time. olle and matt caught me at 16 and that got me racing again as i tried to hang onto them, but again not fit enough and only lasted 2 controls. handled the last loop in the mining fairly well though though lost time on my bad route to 20. ended up fairly down on time but in 6th place, which was a little surprising seeing as i wasn't too happy with my performance. but was to be expected given my lead up

Aus sprint champs. Not much speed combined with plenty of mistakes and no traction on the slippery rocks resulted in a pretty poor run. Was good fun though

new shoes finally came! went for a walk with my sister to wear them in a bit. not feeling as sick today so maybe the end is near

1 hr score course at stanford scrubs. got to the start 10 seconds before my time and didn't know if we got looking time or not, my watch wasn't ready, etc so my route to the first control was really rookie. in fact looking back now i should have gotten 4 and 7 before 5. but oh well. after that was ok, nav wasn't too bad, could have been slightly more accurate on a few. still coughing and congested though and that really hit me after 30 mins, and i slowed down a lot towards the end. considering full rest until tassie to try and get better cos this is really annoying me now
