Cycling race (AR) 3:15:54 [4] * 53.0 km (3:42 / km) +1000m 3:23 / km

Open 5 from Cheddar. The dummy controls threw me a little at the start as my planned first one was a dummy and an alternative first one was also dummy, and my planned final bike one also a dummy so was already having to think about alternate endings. So went for my third choice first control which was way out west and only 15pts - first was the only time to get it but before I'd even got there I realised it wasn't worth it and I should've done my plan A and ignored the fact the first control on the list wasn't there. Anyhow, the way it panned out I probably scored the same as if I'd done plan A just a bit slower. No GPS so climb a guess based on Anquet reckoning 1400 and what Ifor did.

Running race (AR) 1:43:42 [4] * 12.5 km (8:18 / km) +400m 7:09 / km

Only 100mins left so nice simple run mopping up the close big scores. Tough call on the out and back for 38 for 15pts but was 4 mins ahead of my self imposed cut off so obliged to go for it. Would've been back on time except for couldn't find the poxy control in the dark in the cave at the end. 1:44 late in the end. Again climb a guess based on Anquet/Ifor.

Overall a pretty good race, a few time lossess finding the stations and a few sub-optimal routes but apart from the -4 for being late I think I maxed my possible score for the day. However gobsmacked that was good enough for 2nd place Male Solo and 4th best overall. Lots of good people having bad days it seems.

Another spin in the new boat, more of a proper session this time although daylight was limited so didn't do too much. Not a lot of point of training properly until I get the new blades, more just getting used to it. Happy with the HR I could push, that's more like it.

Run with JamesT from OA offices. Felt gentleish to start with and I was comfortably faster up the big climb, did a little double back. Had a bit of a fall and scraped my knee, but I don't think that's why the last bit felt hard, think he was pushing quite hard. HR seemed pretty high and I've been sneezing a bit, oh dear.
