Running hills 1:02:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:45 / mi) +250m 7:04 / mi

Inspired by the glorious weather, the freedom of the long evenings, and the realisation of 620m of climb at Craig a Barns in 13 days, led me out to Otley Chevin for plenty of hills, drills and strides. Bare chested throughout, and potentially picked up a bit of sunburn as punishment for my bravado.

Found the staircase up the entire Chevin (not sure how this has eluded me before). Knowing that this was a test of manhood, never mind fitness, I ran/staggered the whole lot - but any man points gained were probably negated by being a complete wreck at the top. Fantastic evening out there, and it really is a pleasure to be able to do this once more.

Running 25:00 [2] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Before and after

Orienteering (British Middle) 39:26 [5] 6.5 km (6:04 / km)

Better than yesterday, but plenty of room for improvement. Caught my 1 minute man and then struggled to get out of a pack - and start running my own race. As a result, lost around 3 minutes all through 30 second misses. Would have liked to been under 38 minutesm but it was an enjoyable course and a top day.

Running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

All the warming up and down

Orienteering (British Sprint Heat) 15:09 [5] 2.0 mi (7:34 / mi)

Started off well and gradually lost control. Big 30 second miss towards the end cost a good placing.

Orienteering (B Final) 15:20 [5] 2.0 mi (7:40 / mi)

Not good at all, plenty of errors and hesistations. Running too fast throughout the whole day for my (shoddy) sprint technique to cope. Not too bothered by the result, I know I'll be stronger and better in the forests over the upcoming months (and tomorrow!).

Running 37:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:24 / mi)

Jogging around the standard haunts after work, felt fine - calves a little sore after last night.

Running 10:00 [5] 1.4 mi (7:09 / mi)

6 hill sprints of 45 seconds or so, slow jog down recovery - keeping sharp.

Football 50:00 [2] 2.0 mi (25:00 / mi)

Aggravated my ankle a bit. Perhaps not the wisest decision to play. Resting tomorrow anyway, which should let the swelling down a bit, and then I'll hope for a bit of luck on the weekend, wear a big ankle strap, and hope not to turn it. Should be fine sprinting around York, at the least.

Running 40:00 [3] 5.5 mi (7:16 / mi) +100m 6:53 / mi

Got to Roundhay early to do a run. Went steady for 20 minutes, then a bit of fartlek stuff for 20 minutes - hill sprints, accelerations, that kind of thing. Nothing very strenous at all .

Strength and Conditioning (BMF) 1:00:00 [2] 1.5 mi (40:00 / mi)

Another BMF session, probably the last one in darkness this year. Less running and more strength work, particularly legs. Suspecting sore quads tomorrow.

Got paired up with a sizeable female at one point, where we had to try and push each other backwards. Chivalrous as always, I didn't try very hard, so as not to push a girl to the ground. End result - I got pushed to the ground (I blame the road shoes on slippery grass).

Also seem to have hurt my wrist doing too many press ups...or some sort of overuse injury, anyway.

Running 1:16:00 [3] 10.0 mi (7:36 / mi)

With the club. Had a good chat with Rob Furness about all things fell running. A bit too easy really, but I've got no inclination to push myself too hard before the weekend.
