Running 32:00 [2] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

My legs felt surprisingly good today (wish I could transfer this feeling to 9AM Saturdays) - so I treated myself to a slow trot around, with no real plan or direction.

Strength and Conditioning (BMF) 50:00 [2]

Decided to go along to British Military Fitness, as lots of people at the running club bang on about it, and it does sound decent.

It was decent. Plenty of running, sit ups, press ups, lunges, all as you'd expect - with a sociable crowd of people - so I signed up. I think it'll become a regular Monday session, as it's a perfect non running day activity after heavy weekends. I'll try and slot a few others in as well - potentially 10AM Saturday after a Roundhay Parkrun would be a good session.

Running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Orienteering race (Whitbarrow) 1:10:34 [5] 9.6 km (7:21 / km) +360m 6:11 / km

A bit disappointing. 7th behind a tight batch of people.

Binned 5 and a half minutes on number 1 - just didn't have a proper plan, saw a control, assumed it'd be mine. It wasn't. Proceed to run around aimlessly until I found the kite.

Then had a pretty good race - running strongly and navigating well, so pleased with that - but the race itself was not recoverable after the first control. Lessons learnt - take safe routes to first control, and take it steadier. Splitsbrowser suggests I should have been around 65, which would've been a top result.

Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up and down

Running race 18:33 [5] 5.0 km (3:43 / km)

Leeds Parkrun. Still feeling sore and tight from football - don't feel like I've lined up to one of these in peak condition! Settled into the normal pace and ran OK; a couple of seconds slower than 3 weeks ago, when I was feeling a bit fresher. I'm not sure these times are a great reflector of my orienteering speed - at an O event, I seem to be up with people who would take 60-90 seconds off me over a 5KM race.

Fitness has potentially levelled out slightly of late, unsure if perhaps I need a bit more rest. Another good session anyway, as always.

Running 42:00 [3] 5.7 mi (7:22 / mi)

Went out to the Chevin and did a couple of laps of Danefield, similar to what the cross country will be like next week. Felt OK.

Note
(rest day)

In tatters, as predicted. I think I may need to put an end to the 5 a side, should I wish to keep running vaguely seriously.

Running 30:00 [3] 4.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Daylight! Out pre 6PM - felt good - quick loop of park, down to the canal, and back. Would have done more, but agreed to play football, so not enough time.

Running hills 7:00 [5] 1.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Few hill reps from the canal.

Football 45:00 [2] 2.0 mi (22:30 / mi)

With Nick's BBC friends. Quite a competitive game, so will likely be in tatters tomorrow - would like to get a long run in, if feeling up to it.

Running 52:00 [3] 7.0 mi (7:26 / mi)

Lacking idea and inspiration tonight, so put some fresh music on the phone, did a few laps of Hall Park (actually enjoyed this) - some very short sprints, and then cruised round the standard loop up round Trinity. Felt OK for the most part, a little tired at times.

Running 15:00 [1] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

WU/WD

Running tempo 1:00:00 [4] 8.6 mi (6:59 / mi)

The usual Adel fartlek route, but run as a steady/tempo effort. Probably not quite hard enough to class as a tempo, but ramped up the last mile sufficiently to call the whole lot intensity 4. Feeling pretty good, quick and strong. Although I'm not sure why I bothered, as BBC Horizon just informed me I may as well do 3 minutes of balls out exercise a week instead - and hope I'm one of the lucky few who gain an aerobic benefit from exercise at all.
