Road Cycling (Brittany Training) 3:20:32 [3] 86.2 km (25.8 kph) +172m
shoes: Colnago CLX

Ride to Canning Bridge Station, then train to Mandurah and ride back.

Saw 5 dolphins in the Swan near the old brewery, first I have seen since 3 were found dead a year or so ago. Great to see and I wonder why they always bring a smile to our face.

As Douglas Adams said about dolphins in Hitch Hikers Guide

So long and thanks for all the fish

Ride back was pretty uneventful just a a few solo riders until back past Leach Hwy and then the usual small children learning to ride and not looking where they are going.

MTBO race 1:18:50 [4] 17.34 km (13.2 kph) +319m

We had been invited to go sailing on the Swan at 12:30 so under pressure to get the MTBO done and get back to East Fremantle - left home early enough and made it to Turners Hill by before 9:00am. It was pretty cool getting out of the car so went of Arm warmers, under shirt etc.

Decided on the middle and the first 3 were in the single track and so as I am a crap MT rider I was pretty slow but not nav errors even if #1 could have been an option to head back through the car park. # 3 was long leg across to the other side of Del Park Rd and I thought bitumen was my friend so headed down Edgar and then right to the conveyor and then tried to get to the control from the SE but I had not read the map well enough and none of the tracks cross or go under the conveyor! Got nearly to the mine gate and decided that it was not going to work so turned around and back up and down the steep hills on the bitumen. Back up Edgar Rd which was hard work but the surface was good so just a low gear and grind up the hill and back to the finish.

Not sure how long the course would have been but I suspect somewhat more than the 20km advertised so I good job I quit when I did as Nicole had just arrived at the yacht club as I arrived.

Still once I warmed up it was a nice day for a ride and the tracks were nice and firm with not too much pea gravel.

Running 26:38 [3] 4.97 km (5:22 / km)

Short run with Pauline, a Swiss orienteer who is living in Perth and found us, works in West Perth so hopefully will become a regular.

Felt like I was going well but time just below last week but still better than some and after a hard two days at Peterdine was good to not have any niggles.
