Orienteering Meet race 2:20:00 [5] 6.5 km (21:32 / km)
Bad to worse is how I describe day two. My heart was not in it for Sunday. I would have rather slept in and stayed home. So when it came time to race, I was trying but was off from the very beginning. I was racing and attacking the course, but had no mental focus. Bummer. I thought of giving in, but kept at it. I misspunched at 20. There were two fairly lined up controls and I missed the first, hit the second thinking it the first and then headed for the second and nothing made sense on my map... Total bummer.
On the plus side, Drew had a great time both days. His second race was pretty solid, so his overall races were good enough for 6th. Very good since he only raced twice in the past 12 months. I am very proud of him. He messed up the sprint a bit, but once he was on target, he was only modestly behind my times. I.e., 1:00 v. 1:20, 2:20 v. 2:45 etc. That shows a lot of promise. Also, he was so excited to be at the event. I was so happy to see him jacked about the races.
