Orienteering 44:03 [3] *** 3.5 km (12:35 / km) +110m 10:53 / km
11c shoes: Brooks Running 26

Green at Harriet Hollister! Woo! Super fun! I'm not actually sure when the last time I did a standard orienteering race with controls was. I think I did a sprint down in Raleigh after my sister's wedding. And then before that? Just before the pandemic started?

Anyway, I had no real expectations for this and was mainly interested in having a fun weekend hanging out in the woods with friends, especially after yesterday's 13h workday and more generally a semester of 70h work weeks. In this vein, I spent too much time chatting and almost missed my start. Oops. This seemed like a positive, though because I just sort of ran through all the start lines, got my map, and set off for the first control, which I spiked. Then also the second control. Excellent.

The rest of the course was a bit sloppier - more careful contour work and less point and shoot compass work, but aside from 7 where I lost a minute and a half checking out some other lumps and bumps, no big blow ups. Anyway, awesome course and a great day to be out in the woods!

Running 33:00 [3] 3.6 mi (9:10 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 26

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! Woo! Made it out before it was completely dark! That's pretty much all that I recollect from this run. It seemed like my life would get significantly less busy once my grant was turned in (and to some extent that's true), but I am still quite busy. I am crossing my fingers that I will have some more time once grades are submitted!

Biking 1:45:00 [3] 17.3 mi (6:04 / mi) +460m 5:36 / mi

Biking up Mt. Pleasant! Another gorgeous spring day! Today was slightly warmer, and my right foot was feeling funny, so I decided to go for a bike ride instead of a run. I switched from walking to work to biking to work at the beginning of April, but that is apparently not enough to be back in biking shape because I definitely am not. My legs were tired, my butt was sore, and my wrists were exceedingly grumpy by the end of the ride. That said, the ride was delightful and a really great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I got to say hi to my various ruminant friends from last summer and saw a rabbit, so a good day all around. Fun, fun!
