Hiking 10:00 [3] 2.0 mi (5:00 / mi)
(injured)

Oh, so very brief "hike" from Rodeo Beach to Yoga Plateau (only in CA...) and back with Brendan, Sam, and Presto! It turns out it is possible to have fun outside even when I am broken. The knee was not totally ok even with this brief walk, so we ended up just sitting on the beach playing in the sand. Presto decided it was sunbathing time, which was a mistake because clearly the thing to do when sitting on a beach with a sunbathing dog is to bury him in sand! Presto tried to pretend it wasn't happening for a while but once his torso was half buried he fled to Sam's lap, which was not as safe of a location as he thought it would be. I'd say poor Presto, but he seemed so happy to be sunbathing that I don't think we really upset him too much :-).

Stretching 21:00 [3]
(injured)

I found a hip/lower back/upper leg stretching video online, so Sam and I partook while Brendan looked on in amusement. Things definitely felt better after the major stretch than before, which is fantastic. It's pretty intense, and I don't want to overstretch my hips, so I think I'll try to do this every other day at least this coming week.

Also did evening nerve glides.

Hiking 20:00 [3] 4.0 mi (5:00 / mi)
(injured)

Alas, I feel I must check the injured box... I think it's probably my ITB, but I'm not 100% sure. My knee hurts when I wake up in the morning and when I get up after sitting down, but feels fine once I've been walking around for a minute or two. When it is hurting there is no position that it hurts to be in if my leg is supported by something, it just hurts if I have to use any of my muscles to hold it in position. However, when it does hurt it is a sharp quite painful sort of pain, so all in all I'd really like it to be gone. I have to be a bit cautious on stairs, but as long as I've been walking around for a while they're okish.

Anyway, I needed to get outside and do something, so Sam, Presto, and I went for a walk in the hills. It was definitely a nice way to spend the last sunlight of the evening, and Presto was certainly appreciative!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

A good long stretch.

Stretching 1:00 [3]

My ITB was pretty sore when I woke up this morning, so I spent some time on the foam roller before heading into work. This is a bit concerning...

Running 42:32 [3] 4.5 mi (9:27 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 13

Running on the Nimitz trail with Sam and Presto! The original plan was to head out for a mountain bike ride today, but it *rained*. We decided it probably wouldn't be the best of plans to tear up the trails on basically the only day of rain so far this year, so we headed out for a run instead. Things felt great for the first 4 miles or so and then I started noticing my hip a bit, so we ended up just walking it in. It was really nice to get out, though. We saw lots of newts :-).

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Lots and lots of stretching. My hip felt fine, but my ITB started tightening up as the day went on. Uh oh?
