Orienteering 1:08:02 [3] *** 3.1 km (21:57 / km) +175m 17:07 / km
13c shoes: Saucony Trail

Canadian Champs Middle at One Duck Lake! Fun course! My goals for this were to never leave a control without a plan and always have an attackpoint. I didn't do perfectly with this, but I did pretty well, and overall it paid off. I definitely had a few several minute mistakes out there, but I'm pretty pleased after over a year of orienteering in steep but untechnical terrain I didn't have any major blowups. The heat was killing me, though. Living in Berkeley has not prepared me for 90+!

Running with Presto after lab! It was nice and cool and really nice to get out for a quick run. Not going up my hill for a couple of days means my legs feel nice and alive :-).

Orienteering 25:20 [3] *** 2.1 km (12:04 / km)
10c shoes: Saucony Trail

Sprint 1 at Lake Crabtree with Luna! Woohoo! Ok, well, apparently my body can still run when it is actually legitimately humid. Good to know! This was Luna's first run since getting hit by a car a couple of months ago. She started out like her normal excited self, but quickly was like I...am...tired... Poor Luna. We made it around, but I was definitely adjusting my speed to her pace. I also had a couple of really idiotic mistakes.

Orienteering 21:27 [3] *** 2.2 km (9:45 / km)
10c shoes: Saucony Trail

Sprint 2 at Lake Crabtree with Luna! Wow...if I thought Luna was slow on the first run... We had to stop at every stream and puddle for drinks (and there were a lot of them because it was on and off raining), and she was seriously slowing me down. I have to say that it is somewhat heartening to have to slow down for a dog :-). The good news was that my orienteering was pretty clean this time, which was a nice feeling!

I finished this just before my mom came in after her first sprint, so then Luna and I went out again with my mom. Of course Luna pretended she wasn't tired at all :-). Fun, fun!
