Orienteering 1:06:43 [3] *** 4.4 km (15:10 / km) +165m 12:46 / km
20c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

I once again spent the morning setting up and working starts, and then set off for my run. I felt significantly less stressed about the start today, though, so I think I was better able to switch over into orienteering mode. I was very careful to 1 and took some time to get into the map. Unfortunately, I then managed to run past number 3 about 8 times before finally actually seeing it. I missed 4 by a bit, but relocated pretty quickly off a nearby swamp and then on 5, I once again didn't see the control (I was standing on top of the cliff and didn't see the flag when I peered over the edge) and went on a bit of a wild goose chase. Things were ok after that until 10 when I started searching too high up the hill, and then things were mostly ok until the end. I did have a sort of annoying route choice moment when I had carefully decided how to go to 15 and found a fairly deep, unmapped swamp in my way, which I then had to run/swim/wade my way through. Anyway, I was still pleased with how things went in general, and after the run I got interviewed by NPR!!

Orienteering 27:34 [3] *** 2.6 km (10:36 / km) +90m 9:02 / km
22c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Spent the morning and early afternoon setting up and working starts, and then frantically changed into orienteering clothes. I don't know that this (combined with some extremely irritated people complaining to me about the lack of start box 1 minute before my start) significantly hurt my run, but I feel fairly safe it saying it didn't help.

Things were ok, if not perfectly clean until 4, where I went to the wrong side of the bear cage and then stood there in shock for what felt like forever as I decided the control must have been stolen. I checked my control descriptions like 5 times before I realized the control was on the inside of the corner. I then was ok until a complete disaster on 10 and then minor disasters after that. It was still lots of fun, though!

Strength 20:00 [3]

Lots of ankle balance exercises including one where I had to throw a 2kg medicine ball at a trampoline while standing on one foot on a squishy mat. My ankle is definitely tired, but my arms will be SORE!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Lots of calf stretching.

Orienteering 1:25:51 [3] *** 5.5 km (15:37 / km)
11c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Green course at Norwottuck with Presto. I'm still feeling sick, so I decided to go on green. It was a good decision. Presto and I had a fun time out there. I was pretty clean especially once I realized that the map was missing lots of rock and that the trails had been breeding since the map was last updated. I did somehow manage to do something incredibly strange on number 8. I'm still not sure what actually happened, but somehow I crossed a stream without realizing I'd crossed it or getting my feet wet. I am still confused. Anyway, other than that, it was a pretty clean jog around the Green course on a beautiful day with Presto!
