Running 45:52 [3] 5.0 mi (9:10 / mi)
(injured) (sick) shoes: Brooks Running 3

What a gorgeous day!!! Presto and I headed out to sun and a day so warm Presto was panting (bet that was a surprise for him :-) ). We ran down Broadway to MIT and then along the river back up to Harvard. There were tons of people out enjoying the sunshine. My toe hurt at the beginning until my foot swelled up sufficiently that I couldn't really feel it anymore. Then things were fine until the pressure of my shoe on my foot started getting painful. Luckily we were almost back by then. Afterward we stopped on the front lawn of the high school to stretch and absorb some more Vitamin D. Or at least I did. Presto stopped because I did and he had no choice in the matter and took the time to stare longingly at squirrels. Happy Spring!!!

Running 29:47 [3] 3.1 mi (9:36 / mi)
(injured) (sick) shoes: Brooks Running 3

Kept looking outside all day in lab and wishing I was out there running rather than inside cloning. Alas...I was indeed inside cloning for the ENTIRE day. Oh well... It was dark and I was tired and hungry by the time I got out, but Presto and I went out anyway. It was so nice! Presto was really excited to be out and not wearing any kind of jacket (although someone did recognize him as the space dog while we were out there) :-). We did the JFK-River St. loop. My toe hurt some but the pain was manageable. A bigger problem was that my foot swelled up so much that my toes fell asleep (possibly why I didn't notice much pain?). Hopefully a couple more days of icing will fix this. My legs were also really tired - probably a combination of limping all week, running a bit strangely, and not sleeping much this week. Really glad to get out! Can't wait until tomorrow to run in the sun!!!

Orienteering 31:07 [3] *** 3.3 mi (9:26 / mi)
2c (injured) (sick) shoes: Brooks Running 3

This just is not my winter. This morning I broke my toe :-(. It is now a lovely deep purple color with magenta highlights. It is my fourth toe, though, and CSU training also had dinner tonight (thanks Alex and Ed!!), so I taped it to the third toe and decided to see how it would do. The first 10 minutes was ok. There was some pain but nothing that I couldn't live with. The next 10 minutes was quite painful and I started thinking about stopping, which was a problem because it meant I wasn't thinking about where I was. The last 10 minutes was agonizing.

Part of my normal abs workout until the exercises that in gymnastics and swimming they would make us point our toes during. Apparently it is very difficult for me to not point my toes during these exercises and pointing my toes is incredibly painful right now, so I skipped these. Then later I did a very small amount of upper body stuff and some extra abs with Presto lying across my chest. 40 extra pounds does in fact make a difference.
