Score-O at Pawtuckaway. Ran with Madeline and Presto. It was awesome! We traded off who was holding the map, which was really great training because it made the person not holding the map look for features that looked like things that would be mapped and also really made us plan our route choices in advance so that the person without a map could be looking for attackpoints as well. We got to 11 of the controls, which was our original plan. We lost a minute or two when we got to number 3 and the control code was wrong. We finally decided that it had to be correct and continued on, but we definitely would have been in in under an hour had that not happened.

Bike-O Score-O at Pawtuckaway. Neither Madeline nor I had done any real mountain biking before, so we just decided to see how it went. We started out going to the 4 easy, close controls and quickly discovered that we are terrible mountain bikers. We then went to the road and got to do some reasonable speed biking on the road before getting to trails again and slowing to a crawl. In retrospect, the best plan would have been to book it as fast as we could on the road to the other side of the park where most of the controls were, then leave our bikes and run hard to get as many controls as possible before booking it back to the start. As it was, we were just glad to make it through the bike-O uninjured. Great way to spend the day!
