Orienteering race 54:24 [5] *** 4.81 km (11:19 / km) +175m 9:34 / km
spiked:12/12c shoes: Vasque Orienteering

Technically this was a really great race. I basically didn't make any mistakes. Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle on the way to number 1, which slowed me down significantly, since I was then having trouble running at any reasonable pace. Then I broke my compass on the way to number 5, which also affected things since I didn't really want to run diagonally across ridges anymore.

Orienteering race 1:09:15 [5] *** 5.6 km (12:22 / km) +170m 10:44 / km
spiked:10/11c shoes: Vasque Orienteering

Intercollegiate Championships at Coronado National Forest in AZ. I was having a lot of trouble with the altitude and basically had to walk all of the hills, which induced me to go around a lot of the re-entrants instead of just running across them. I came in to number 7 a couple of re-entrants too far to the south, checked one or two north of where I came in and then ran south for a while. I lost a couple of minutes in there.

Orienteering race 30:03 [5] *** 2.9 km (10:22 / km) +90m 8:58 / km
spiked:11/14c shoes: Vasque Orienteering

Sprint at Intercollegiates. I was trying to run faster than I was navigating, which worked ok for a while and then came back to haunt me at controls 6, 7, and 9, where I made a couple of minutes of errors. The altitude was definitely still a problem.

Orienteering 40:00 [2] *** 4.4 km (9:05 / km)
spiked:13/14c shoes: Vasque Orienteering

Arthur Pack compass training. I basically went in a straight line to every control. I jogged kind of slowly for the entire course and didn't have any errors except for number 14, which I stood in front of for a while wondering why I didn't see a ribbon before actually seeing the ribbon. It was kind of like orienteering on another planet. One with carnivorous plants...

Orienteering (Trail-O) 1:00:00 [0] ***

Trail-O at Arthur Pack State Park. I got 9 out of 13 controls correct. It was really cool just walking around with all of the cacti.
