In Vermont for the weekend with Heather and Alisha - yay! When we booked the trip, we weren't sure if we'd be able to bike or not, but the Universe was on our side and this was the first day that Ranch Camp in Stowe was renting fat bikes. The conditions were not perfect, but the day sure was! It was a lovely temperature for being outside and beautifully sunny. We rode the very hilly trails at Cady Hill for a bit, then descended off of the hill and took the Stowe Recreation Path back to town, stopping at Black Cap in Stowe for a near end ride coffee, followed by a yummy lunch at Ranch Camp and wandering about Stowe.

Orienteering race 2:40:35 [3]

Raid the Hammer Half-Raid with Amber and Alisha. I haven't felt like doing this race in awhile, but for some reason I wanted to give this a go. Amber was looking for a teammate and it was great that we were able to convince Alisha to join us as well.

We agreed that it would be a hiking event, although we did break into a shuffle on a few occasions. Alisha has a special skill of making a 7km/hr walk look like a stroll, so I sometimes found it easier to jog along beside her!

We had a very smooth and fun day out. We chose not to split up at the start and called it our warm-up. From there, there were no navigational disaster to report - Amber took the lead and always does a super job. I didn't love some of the slick off trail footing in a few places, but found it got better as the day went on. We lucked out with the weather and it wasn't nearly as bad as the first part of the drive up was!

It was a super fun day out and great to see so many friends. We've already semi-committed to doing Raid the Rib together!
