Orienteering 58:33 [2]

My other nephew and I signed up for the Jungle Adventure Run after he fell in love with orienteering at the Centre Island O-Cup in the winter. Finley (11) doesn't fit in well with a lot of regular sports, so it's very satisfying to see him so happy and excited while doing this. He was ESPECIALLY excited about the fact that we got to download an app on our phones that would beep when we were near the controls.

I am so thankful that DGL found a way to hold this event, and it brought me SO MUCH joy to see families out enjoying the beautiful day. Everyone started at different times, and while we saw some others on the trails, there was never anyone else near the controls. Finley and I executed our plan well and even got a control or two on the way back that we hadn't intended on. There were a few good climbs that left him pretty tired by the end, but we fixed that with a stop for butter tarts and ice cream on the way home!

Cycling 50:00 [2]

Biking at Kelso with my brother and nephew - it was both of their first times there. My nephew (10) declared it his best bike ride of all time! The weather was cool and there were no bugs and both of them loved it. It makes me really happy that they are both interested in biking and that we can do this together. Post-ride, I introduced them to one of the best parts of biking: drinks and snacks in the parking lot.

Strength Training 30:00 [3]

One of the best things to happen to me so far this week was finding dumbbells back in stock at a local fitness store, and being able to add to my collection!

Cycling 55:00 [3]

Awesome late afternoon ride at Puslinch with Browner and Alisha. I love riding with these ladies! As if a beautiful day and great ride weren't enough, we had crispy bois in the parking lot and then take out from the Old Marina that we were allowed to sit on the grass to enjoy. Summer evenings don't get much more perfect than this!

Well there was a ton of PI in Puslinch so we'll see if I feel the same way in a few days! ;-)

Paddling 1:20:00 [3]

Paddle back in to the Wolf Lake access point. Most of the sites on Crab Lake were full for the weekend, and we saw several others heading out on Sunday. It was such a beautiful day that I was pretty sad to be heading home.

I've only been to Kawartha Highlands once before and my impression wasn't a super positive one, as it was really buggy (early July) and busy, but this has changed my mind! We had some park rangers come by our site on Sunday morning to check our permit, and they recommended a few other lakes to consider in the future.
