Running race 31:48 [3]

I went back to MI for the Dances with Dirt relay, an event I`ve done a few times now and really enjoy. When my team lost a teammate a few weeks ago, Browner stepped in to fill the spot and was an awesome addition to the group!

My team likes to put a fun twist on this event by not pre-planning which legs everyone is going to run in advance, but by drawing names out of a hat just a bit before the race is going to start. This year, I drew legs 3, 8, and 12, which was awesome as they were all legs that I hadn't run before.

Leg 3, my first leg, was a nice little lollipop loop from and back to Silver Lake. It was just shy of 5km and a great warm-up!

My next leg was Stripper Pole, a clever name for a steep but short climb in the middle of leg. Listening to people crack jokes and complain about it well worth the climb! After the hill, there was a fun mile of off trail before finishing on some of the same trails I ran a couple of weeks ago at Woodstock. I really enjoyed this leg as well!

My last leg of the day was my favourite - Be Prepared - as it was just lovely, dry trail through the forest with just a few climbs peppered in. I was also happy it was my last leg as it meant I could start tucking into the beer! Our team all camped at Crooked Lake for the weekend and there was lots of banter around a lovely big fire that evening.

Exploring trails around the park with my nephew, who loves to give me heart attacks by going down hills as fast as he can and then spinning out his back wheel.
