Running 45:00 [2]

Gentle yog around Valens Conservation Area, where Earl and I were making the most out of the gorgeous weekend! Finally nabbed the perfect campsite that had eluded me all season as it was always booked so far in advance.

Orienteering race 2:11:00 [3]

Kelly and I rode the STARS Tracks race together and it was great to have someone to talk things over with the whole time. A few blips on the first half but we were feeling really good about how it was going and hit the short course option at CP7 in about 50 minutes (or so we thought!) so we decided to continue. The back half of the race went smoother than the front, with only a few little mistakes that were caught early. As we rode to the finish, we thought it was the first time we had finished the course in the time allowed and we so excited! Well, that excitement was more than a bit premature as we were actually 11 minutes over, having confused the moving time on our bike computers (only just over 90 minutes) with our elapsed time, which tells me we spent a bit more time talking about our route choices than maybe we should of! Regardless of yet another "OT" in the results (that's 3 for 3!), it did feel like this year went the smoothest. There were inevitable mistakes, but they were all caught quickly and unlike last year where Tracy and I spent a good 30 minutes wondering where we were, this year I always felt that I knew!

Given the sketchy forecast, we were all extremely grateful that the race conditions were as good as they were, with the rain holding off until just after the awards ceremony. Thanks to Bash's efforts, we had a fun and challenging course that showcased many of Albion's best features. And being able to camp before a race makes it all that much more appealing to me!

The drive home got so crazy that at one point I had to pull Earl into a parking lot and sit it out for 20 minutes or so as I felt the winds were gonna blow him off the road!
