Cycling 45:00 [3]

Stephania convinced me to come to Toronto and try a SoulCycle class with her as she had a couple of free passes. I had no idea what this was but knew that every celebrity under the sun swears by it, so I was very curious! Well, I'd like to take some of those people out for a trail run so they can see what real fun is. The classes are normally $28 a piece and let me tell you, if you are in downtown TO it is totally worth that for the entertainment value alone.

On Saturday evening Browner found a wonderful video that captures the cheesiness of SoulCycle perfectly, but I can't seem to find it now so this will have to suffice: http://www.blogto.com/fitness/soulcycle-toronto/ Think a dark, candlelit room, tribal-y dance music, and lots o' hollering and whooping.

Running 30:00 [2]

Thanks to Kelly L, I'm volunteering as a running mentor on Monday evenings with a program called Up and Running which is a running group for women with depression and anxiety to try running as a tool in their tool box. We are only a couple of weeks in but I'm enjoying it so much and am sure I'm getting as much out of it as the participants are in terms of the satisfaction of seeing people who (mostly) haven't run before challenge themselves and their preconceived boundaries. Also, they listen much better than the red and green groups at ARK.

I wasn't planning to log these sessions but the group last night was working hard and it was a nice little shake out for my legs.

Running race 1:05:00 [3] 8.4 km (7:44 / km)

It's been a long time since I've run two races two days in a row and wasn't sure how this was going to feel. Legs were heavy for the first mile but I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they loosened up and generally felt really good. The 5 mile course was on a loop I'd never down before and I really enjoyed the novelty of it.

Perfect running temperatures both days - coolish and overcast. I didn't get rained on at all but my friends in the full and 50k definitely did.

Super fun weekend...so much so I decided to stay Sunday night and make the trek home in the wee hours of Monday morning!
