Running 1:27:00 [3]

Stopped at Brant Tract on my way up to MacGregor Point Provincial Park with Earl. I have only been here a couple of times (once during Angry Seagull years ago) but had good memories of it. I was tempted to bring my bike along but was glad that I didn't as several sections of trail were under water!

This turned into a bit of adventure when I ran off my map and was too stubborn to turn around so did a bit of adventuring trying to find my way back on the map. Run turned into a nice mix of beautiful piney single track and some nice forested double track. When I got back to the van I fired up the stove and made a toasted cheese sandwich in Earl for lunch. I was so happy. :-)

Orienteering race 3:59:57 [3]

I think our team may win the award for coming in closest to the wire on this one!

I keep putting off writing this thinking I am going to find the time to use my map and write down the order that we got the controls, but I'm probably not so loosey goosey will have to suffice!

BiT and I were excited to race with Greg D. for this race as we had heard he had all of simpy's skills without the attitude! ;-) As expected, he turned out to be a great teammate and the three of us both worked well and had a blast together. We collaborated on the route and BiT did most of the navigation. We had two small bobbles that cost us a few minutes each time, but generally speaking, we were really pleased with how we executed our route and the on the fly decisions we made to adjust our plan as the race went on. As we punched our last control, we realized it was going to be REALLY tight making it back on time so we had the exciting sprint finish that I told the guys I loathed, making it in with just three seconds to spare!

It was a great day with great people and I really love this format for this event!
