Strength Training 30:00 [3]

In my basement before going to Toronto. The best thing about Sally's basement strength workouts is that there are never any burpees!

Running 50:00 [3]

Fun Friday night group run at Schneider's Bush organized by Heidi with Val D., Mrs. Tiny, Laura S. and Heidi's friend Carmen who was a real trooper to do this as she doesn't run regularly and Schneider's is pretty hilly! We ran to celebrate Heidi's birthday but she brought the gift when she pulled out two mini bottles of champagne and glasses from her pack and we toasted her new age category on a beautiful sunny evening. Schneider's is such a cool place and I love Friday night runs!

Running 4:19:00 [3]

I would say this was a "fun" night Hockley loop but who am I kidding, Hockley loops are hard! The fun part is having great company for them! Bash, BiT, simpy, Allison and I had what is perhaps a contender for the most adventurous Hockley loop ever as we climbed in, over, under and around the debris across the trail from the previous week's storm. It was sad to see how many trees were damaged and as Bash noted, the amount of work that this will mean for the group that maintains this section of trail.

This was my longest (and hardest) run so far in 2016 and I was definitely feeling that by the end. BiT and simpy took turns babysitting me at the back so I didn't get stuck climbing through the storm carnage. Thanks boys!

As much as I was completely spent by the end of this, it was a super fun way to spend a Wednesday night! Next time we need to start earlier so we can reward ourselves at the Black Birch...that is always one of the highlights of coming up to Hockley! :-)

Strength Training 50:00 [3]

My first CrossFit class in a couple of weeks after I messed up my left shoulder there doing something I obviously wasn't ready for. I took it easy today and swapped pull-up progressions for supines...hopefully my shoulder will thank me for it. I'll also be more inclined to start going back now that the opens are over and people will take about something other than that.

Yoga (hot) 1:00:00 [1]

Hot yin yoga at Goodlife. I don't know if it's the sweating or the holding poses for such a long time but I always feel really good the next morning after I do these classes.

X-Country Skiing 1:57:00 [3]

Found out that Arrowhead had some trails (about 15km) still open and was closing after today so thought I would take advantage of another bluebird day to get a bit more skiing in. The trails had been groomed the day before but with the warm temperatures Saturday they were a bit of a mixed bag. I started early enough that some sections were still rock hard ice while other sections in the sun were mushy, but who cared! It was a beautiful day and I was happy to be out there exploring the trails. I started from the Birches parking lot and did a bunch of the green trails to see what the conditions would be like before doing the loop around Arrowhead lake and then a bit more green to finish off the morning. It was getting busy by the time I left but I only saw a couple of people out while I was skiing.

On Friday and Saturday night I stayed in the coolest place that I have to mention to anyone looking for some affordable and quirky accommodation in the area: http://wolfdenbunkhouse.com/accommodation/hostel I absolutely loved the place and would not hesitate to stay there again. Both the rooms (I had part of a log cabin called Loon East), the owners, the main lodge and the people I met there were great.

So all in all, it was an incredibly fun and fulfilling weekend and I am glad my family gave me a holiday hall pass when I told them it was going to be too nice for me to stay in town for the weekend and that I HAD to go on an adventure. :-)
