Don't Get Lost Eliminator Adventure Run. Signed up for the adventure run instead of the o-cup as I figured I could use the additional nav practice! Got there way earlier than necessary and plotted a route for the first map, all easy controls around the Brock residences, which was kinda fun. Once we finished that map we got the main map. Controls were divided by a road and I assumed I'd only get one half of the map done so came up with a route for those and set out. I'd put my microspikes in my jacket pocket and put them on once I hit the trails and they worked really well for some extra grip. Finished the 'half' of the map I'd intended to with about 40 minutes to spare so headed over to the other side of the road and grabbed a few more. On the one hand, I was pleased that I made no real errors and got more than I thought I would; on the other hand, the route choice I ended up taking to the second set of controls didn't make a lot of sense.
Really enjoyed this course option and the weather was awesome for being out. After watching Bash get her championship award, she, 'Bent and I had a great lunch at the Merchant Ale House brewpub. Picked up my skis from Hilton Falls on the way home (phew!) then took my 5-year old nephew out for a snowshoe. Every time we go into the woods he starts telling me stories about a pirate named Captain Blackford who lives there and who his imaginary older brother is best friends with.
