Yoga (hot) 1:00:00 [2]

I am starting to feel much better. Not sure if I'll try to do the O-Cup tomorrow or not - tried a short run on my treadmill last night but after a few minutes I was hacking and had to stop.

I haven't had the chance to formulate my thoughts about my trip to Copper Canyon, so until I do, here's some lovely words from Stephania about her experience: http://stephaniavaralli.com/2013/03/07/the-day-i-g...

I'd fully echo her thoughts. Disastrous race aside, this was a very memorable and powerful experience for me. I have so many fun and happy memories that I want to share but just haven't found a way to put them into words yet.

I'll post some snapshots to FB in the next couple of days, but in the meantime, here are a few albums I shared with the group I was travelling with on the Mas Locos group:

By the time the Tarahumara arrived in town, I was already pretty sick and not doing much with my camera, but I took these the day before the race:

The day before we hiked into Urique, we visited a boarding school for Tarahumara girls where we put on a cookout. They LOVED the iPads that some people brought to show them things on.

Partway through the drive on the Diego Express, we stopped at this park to go hiking and ziplining. These are mostly people shots but they also give a good sense of the landscape.

Note

If anyone is interested in a post-race get together on Sunday, Andrew and I are 230m from the race location and we'd be happy to have people over. Another option is this cute little restaurant on Puslinch Lake less than a km from the race: http://www.oldmarina.com/ My place would have a better beer selection but the Old Marina does have a train. :)

Running race 5:30:00 [3]

My first DNF in an ultra. :(  between Friday and Sunday my cold became something much worse. I had tried to go to the doctor in Saturday but it wasn't open. Started the race with apprehension and was suffering from the get go. Made it roughly 21 miles before calling it quits and going to the medical clinic which was open for the race. Got all sorts of awesome Mexican drugs and am starting to feel better.  I'm obviously disappointed but have never been more certain that I couldn't continue and I suppose now I have a hood reason to come back! Steph had a great race and finished in roughly 13.5 hours. Will fill in lots of other details about the experience once I have real Internet!
