Snowshoeing 1:20:00 [3]

Lovely NYE snowshoe with Bash, Bent, Browner and STORM. We had a wonderful dinner followed by a Palgrave showing of the Banff Film Festival (complete with official trailer) then a snowshoe before we lost our mojo, followed by another drink to ring in the new year. A perfect adventury NYE!

My only regret of the evening was laughing out loud when Scout and Contour dragged STORM face first down a hill when we were snowshoeing off-trail. Sorry STORM!

X-Country Skiing 1:20:00 [3]

Ski at Schneider's with Mrs. Tiny. Great day to be out but conditions were mixed...okay in the woods but sticky in the fields and we both had to remove our skis a couple of times to de-clump.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3]

Hermes and I spent some time in Loree Forest with an old SSR map. The results were mixed! We lost some confidence on an early control when we couldn't figure out if we were on the right hilltop or not, which led to some existential ponderings, such as "what is a hilltop, really?" Things went better from there and we had lots of fun breaking trail and taking pictures. Snowshoes were definitely necessary off trail!

Snowshoeing 2:15:00 [2]

Great afternoon snowshoe hike at Brant Tract with Greg and Julie. 3/4 of the way around the loop we stopped and had a beer in a snowmobile hut. Now that's my kind of training session!

I've never seen Brant Tract in the winter and it was really lovely!

Running 2:10:00 [2]

Slip 'n slide around the trails at Dundas Valley. I knew it would be sketchy but this was a bit worse tham expected! I set out to follow the SS course but like all my earlier attempts to do so, I got off course quickly. So I just meandered about the Headwaters and Main Trail loops, trying to stay upright and answering questions about my shoes.

X-Country Skiing 1:30:00 [3]

Met Bash and 'Bent on a lovely Friday morning to check out the Hockleycrest x-country ski trails. So much fun! Bash was very patient with me as tried to build up my confidence on the turns, and I was feeling much better by the end of it than I was at the beginning! It is always so exciting to check out new trails, and this was a really fun area to ski around!

After we skiied we had lunch at the Hockley General Store, which I'd heard a lot about but never been to. Such a cute place and I came home with all sorts of goodies!

Snowshoeing 40:00 [3]

After lunch I headed back out on the Hockleycrest trails to log a bit of snowshoe time...my first this year! That's still better than the past few years when the first snowshoe was the day or week before the Snowshoe Raid!

Figured I needed this after everything else today!

X-Country Skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Morning ski at Schneider's where I was very successful in making it look like I was skiing for the first time in my life. Seriously!
2 PM

Running 40:00 [3]

It was soooo beautiful out I stopped for a short run at the Hydrocut on my way out to the barn. Lots of trails were nicely packed down.

X-Country Skiing 30:00 [3]

I had a full day but when Mrs. Tiny posted that she had been skiing that morning, I zipped home during the day to pick my up ski stuff and left a work dinner early saying with complete honesty, "I gotta go skiing." Just did a couple of tours around the ungroomed trails at Bechtel but took advantage of Mrs. Tiny's tracks as best I could. Yay for skiing season!

Trekking/Hiking 1:30:00 [3]

Hike around the area of Powerscourt Falls, the highest waterfall in Ireland (it's not very big). We wandered into the woods and made our own route, stumbling at one point into a Santa photo booth at the end of a dirt road in the middle of nowhere!

From there we wandered around Glasnevin Cemetery, which was creepy but cool, and then quenched our thirst at this neat little pub beside the cemetery called Gravediggers: http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20161019-where-gra...

I was only there for a few days but think I made the most of it!

Trekking/Hiking 2:10:00 [2]

Seashore hike in Ireland. A beautiful route out of Dublin Bay to a lighthouse and back.
