Cycling 1:30:00 [4] 44.0 km (2:03 / km)

Was sure that I was going to hate staring at a computer screen for an hour and half but was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worked a LOT harder than I would have in a normal cycling class or on the trainer and to realize I won't die if I work a bit outside of my comfort zone. With it being quite unpleasant outside, this was a perfect night to stay inside instead! Good balance of chit chat and sweatin'. I can see why people do this on a regular basis and would definitely go back.

Yoga (hot) 1:00:00 [2]

Good Life hot yoga take two. Different type of class than I did last time, and perfect for a Monday. Nice and hot and great instructor. This class would best be described as Montessori yoga and so different from bikram where you do what you are told and nothing else. Really nice to be given a range of options and have the ability to drink water at any time. Between this and the ART I had done at lunch, I was able to take my pigeon to whole new levels today.

Running 1:37:00 [3]

Hydrocut trail run with Mrs. Tiny. Every time we run there the weather seems to mysteriously change from one side to the other! Lots of cars in the parking lot but we barely saw any other people on the trails, until I decided to go the bathroom, and then suddenly we were surrounded by three riders...go figure!

Running 2:28:00 [3]
ahr:153 max:175

Solo Bruce trail run in Speyside / Limestone area. Out and back with a bunch of side trails to keep it interesting. Only run once here before and couldn't remember what the terrain was like. Lots of technical sections that were a challenge on the ankles with the snow. What a gorgeous day for it though!

Running 50:00 [3]

I fear that I've started to become addicted to running in the morning before work as it makes it easier to deal with all of the shenanigans that I face during the day at work. I suppose this isn't a terrible thing, but the one morning this week I didn't run, I wanted to punch a bunch of people, which isn't good.

I have to admit, this wasn't too terrible. What is happening to me?

Yoga (hot) 1:00:00 [2]

First hot yoga class at Good Life in Cambridge. Was skeptical as I had heard that some of their classes were a joke, but this one was pretty good. Room wasn't as hot as a bikram class would be, but it was a good combination of core work, strengthening and oft neglected stretching. Felt great by the end of it.

Orienteering race 3:02:28 [3]

Snowshoe Raid with Mrs. Tiny. Using the experience of racing in this area in last year's event, we knew the key was not to spend too much time in Loree. We plotted a conservative loop hitting most of the CPs on the west side and gave ourselves a cutoff to make it to the first aid station by 12:40. We found all of the CPs we intended to hit without any trouble, minus a small snafu on 149 where we missed the trail we intended to attack it from and had to use the land features instead. From reading the other race reports, sounds like we were lucky to find this one! Hit the aid station about 15-20 minutes ahead of schedule and got 110 and 104 as we started on our route back.

From there we had workshopped several options depending on how our time was going. We thought we might get 160 but decided to keep going. After 178, we debated between going for 201 and 208 and then straight to the finish or going to the matrix and trying to get them all which would be worth more points. We opted for the latter and arrived the top of the matrix with about 40 minutes left, which we thought would give us enough time for all of them. We were wrong! I was able to grab A and B while Mrs. Tiny grabbed E (I think?). We both went right by C thinking the other person was getting it...oops! Met back at the top of the hill and tried our best to bomb down without breaking anything but were 2.5 minutes late.

Really happy with the first half of our route but in hindsight, should have probably opted for 201 / 208 on the way back rather than the matrix. Oh well! Perfect weather for and it so fun to see everyone in January!

Running hills 50:00 [3]

Loves me some hills. Loves me some hills. Perhaps if I just keep saying it, it will magically become true. Do love seeing my HR go up like that though!

Tuesday Jan 15, 2013 #

Running 53:00 [2]

Easy treadmill run trying to keep HR in zone 2. Put all my T. Swift songs on shuffle and rocked out. Good times.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Riding (horse) plans after work got cancelled so when I got home and found Mr. Reeder there, I suggested we hit the trails for a night ride (bike). Very pleasant temperature in the trees and trails were solid. When we came out, we saw a large group preparing to ride. Turns out they ride every Tuesday evening through the winter and welcome newcomers, so I got on their email list and hope to be able to get out with them sometime soon. They seemed like a fun bunch, and not just because they said they go out for beer afterwards. :)

Trekking/Hiking 1:00:00 [3]

Stomach flu that I could feel germinating in my body since Friday finally caught up with me last night. Headed to the gym and did an hour of power hiking with incline which was all I could muster today.

Running 4:27:00 [3]

Seaton run with BiT and Bruiser. Simpy joined us for a bit, but then he got tired and went home. ;) Although conditions were quite sketchy in places, it was a ridiculously, ridiculously wonderful day to be trail running. Only thing hurting at the end was my lower back from trying to stay upright on the ice!

Running hills 53:00 [3]

At the gym on the treadmill. Would always rather be outside but know myself well enough to know that at this hour, by myself, I'll get more of a quality workout this way. 25 minutes of hills at varying inclines and lengths with warm-up and cool down.

Running 45:00 [3]

Morning run at gym on treadmill. Was trying to tap into that run forever pace and found it - everything felt great!

Running 3:35:00 [3]

Hockley loop with Stephania. I've never done this in the winter and it didn't really occur to me how snowy it would be up there! Decided to do the loop counter-clockwise, and we got a rude awakening as we were postholing to our knees alongside the farmer's field on the way to the ski hill. Conditions thankfully improved as we went along, making me pleased with the decision to do it in this direction and get the worst part over with first. The road section on the second half had just enough snow on it to make it feel like it wasn't a road, and the last trail section was beautifully packed down thanks to some snowshoers. A little cold on the road but otherwise a beautiful day to be out the woods!

Running 1:20:00 [3]

With Mrs. Tiny at the Hydrocut on snowshoes. Always nice to remember what they feel like before a race! We were lucky to get out while it was still sunny and could feel the temps drop when we were out there. Didn't feel as bad as the first snowshoe run of the season usually does!

Running 1:02:00 [3]

Had to fit in one last run before we leave today despite the fact that my legs would have really preferred a rest. Had Andrew drive me to a trailhead and ran back to our cottage. Miwok trail to Coyote Ridge to Green Gulch. Kept it a bit more honest today with some climbing before a nice long descent to the coast. Amazing views and a perfect way to end our trip.
