As a result of tonight's ride, am going to have a nice new scar on the back of my right calf to add to the other gnashes that my chain ring occasionally decides to take out of my leg!
The plan for the day was to drive around in serach of the "unexpected curiosities" of the Sardinian mountains. This ended up being a hike to see "La Tomba des Gigantes" - a burial ground for which we found a sign off the side of the road. We were improperly dressed and had no water (not smart - 42 degrees!) as we didn't know how far it would be. Much farther than anticipated but very cool once we got there!
Despite the repeated warnings we received that we "must" take a guide to Tiscali - the remains of a Nuraghic (1200 BC) village buried in a cave in the mountain, we decided not to heed them :) Found the trails and Tiscali eventually, after many false starts. The village itself wasn't as impressive as the fact that it was in a giant cave in a mountain. Felt as if we triumphed over everyone who said we couldn't find it!
