Running 30:00 [3]

Road run through my neighbourhood which I haven't had a chance to really check out properly since I moved there because I'm barely ever home.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Ramble around the trails at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park. I've only been through here a couple of times and have never really had the opportunity to explore. Very slushy and a lot more snow than we have at home, provoking one confused person to look at my in my shorts and say "nice summer day?!?"

This was a CP on my way up to Sawdust City Brewery to pick up their new Juicin' IPA. Yes, I drove to Gravenhurst and back for beer, but it was a consolation prize because what I really wanted to do was drive to VT to pick up some outstanding offerings from Hill Farmstead but rational Sally won that battle so I was glad that irrational Sally won this one. And the beer was well worth the drive!

Running 30:00 [3]

I had really good intentions of leaping out of bed at 6:00 a.m. to get a good run in before work.

Here's how it really turned out:
6:00 am: alarm goes off. I'm cozy! Hit snooze.
6:05: first snooze goes off. I wanna daydream for a few more minutes.
6:10: second snooze goes off. Alright, enough shenanigans.
6:15: well some coffee will help get me going. Let's have coffee and see what's new on Facebook.
6:25: oh crap, I should probably just run on the treadmill now...
6:30: finally start running

Oh well, I suppose it was still better than nothing!

Strength Training 50:00 [2]

CrossFit Take 2. I still had a bunch of classes left at the CrossFit gym I'd been going to, and in the past month they had introduced a new class that sounded intriguing called CrossFit Functions, so I decided to check it out. I did really enjoy my previous CrossFit experience but did not enjoy the injuries I kept sustaining to my upper body, likely due to improper form. Any ways, this class was a much, much scaled back version of CrossFit that for me was probably a little too far the other end of the spectrum, but the people were friendly, the coach was great, and I'll probably do a few more, if for no other reason than to use up the rest of my classes.

Orienteering race 1:07:42 [3]

Stars Kick Start. The rain cleared just in time! I got disoriented on one of the dog bones and Meghan helped set me straight, and then I messed up 5 pretty good, but gave myself a good old kick in the pants after that (using motivational sayings like "C'mon Sally!?!") and the rest went smoothly. In the grand scheme of how my orienteering races usually go, I'd say this was a 7.5.

We killed time between the races at the Old Marina, where a few people exercised self-restraint but most of took it for the team downing big ass burgers and beer, knowing it was gonna hurt a bit later. Worth it!

Orienteering race 50:04 [3]

Starry Night. I wish we had more of these...so much fun!

Kelly ran this one with me and it was nice to have the company in the dark! A few questionable route choices and a couple of times in the maze of trails that I thanked for the universe for what felt like stumbling on the control. Definitely less precise than the day race, but still great fun!

Running 30:00 [3]

Around Valens CA before it got dark. I took Earl there on an impromptu adventure there last night! I thought it was really cool that I had the place to myself and got to choose any site I wanted, but I did get a bit spooked by the idea later in the evening. I had crazy dreams about raccoons attacking my van and waking up in the middle of a carnival!

Running 50:00 [3]

Mrs. Tiny, Allison and I had an absolutely lovely run from my place down to the Grand River Trail and then to Bingeman's and back. There was a Christmas light display that we ran around and I wish I had my camera as there were many entertaining photo opportunities that we couldn't take advantage of.

Orienteering race 2:24:00 [3]

Half Raid with Stephania and James. It was going to be the longest that Stephania had been away from her baby and James' first adventure running event so we thought that the half raid was plenty!

I had a lovely pre-race evening with Earl at Fifty Point Conservation Area. It was a bit chilly but I won't complain about camping in November! It was only 20 minutes from the race which allowed for a nice, leisurely morning.

It was a lovely day for the race and everything went relatively smoothly. One or two questionable route choices (such as to 1, where I made us climb up and down a hill for no reason), but we were fairly efficient and had no difficulty finding anything. Just a plain ol' great day out in the woods!

Some wonky back issues going on this week that I am trying to sort out. Too much sitting at work, I think! :-\

Running 2:00:00 [3]

Despite the fact that my house is full of boxes, Earl and I HAD to get away for an evening to reconnect. Much to my delight, Rattlesnake Point was still open for camping and I'd never camped there before. I had the place to myself, literally, with a security guard coming to my site to let me know I was the only one camping and to give me a number to call if anything went wrong.

It was especially cool to wake up in the morning, about 50m from the trailhead and have it be so lovely and quiet, as by the time I finished my run, the place was PACKED. As I drove out, there was a huge line in both directions to get into the park. Who can blame them? It was such a LOVELY day!

Orienteering race 32:00 [3]

X-League race at Breithaupt after ARK. What a beautiful warm night for it! Managed so clear the course although, as always, route choice was suspect. These are such fun little races.
