Short 'mental health' run on Puslinch trails after a long day at work trying to get everything organized for my trip. Barely had time to pee, but it will all be worth it when I get on a plane tomorrow. A whirlwind tour of Dublin and Glasgow and their surrounding areas is on the itinerary!

Event: O-Cup #1

O-Cup event at Glen Haffy. Not sure of actual time as I started my watch late, but I think I finished in about an hour. Always takes me awhile to get used to the map but once I did, I felt as if I had a pretty good run navigation-wise. Lost some time on the first box when d wasn't where I expected it to be (sounds like it was easier to attack from e, but since my handicap was 3 my plan for the first one was to do d-c-b-a). Others were having trouble finding d as well but rather than waste too much time, or DQ myself by not getting all four, I went back up the hill from c to e then back to c, b, a. Wasted some time doing this but I knew e was easy to find. From there, things went well. Felt a bit disoriented from 9-10 but enjoyed being on my own at this point. Second o-cup box went fine as did the rest of the course. And best of all, no niggling from Daniel! Cold at the start but beautiful day and conditions, followed by an unusually decadent post-race brunch!

Trail run at Hydrocut. Decided to run the trail backwards from how it would be ridden and got myself all mixed up towards the end where Stinky Girl has been relocated. Ran back and forth along a stretch of trail more times than I should admit before realizing what was going on. Lots of evidence of WCC's hard work out there since the last time I'd been out.

Tried to do this at my MAF rate - around 140 - which is consistent with Zone 2 from the VO2 max testing I had done a few months back. Impossibly hard to keep to that number, and I think I only hit it about 10% of the time.

Andrew told me that he'd run into the Spences and the Trudelles at Puslinch doing some nav practice and shortly into my ride, I came across both Mr. and Mrs. wokitoki too. Glad they had enough time to stop by when they were done for a visit and some beer!

Was both excited and a bit anxious about today. Didn't want to be the one whose foot blew out on them but thankfully that happened to none of us! Daniel came along but kept himself as quiet as could be expected given what I was asking him to do. Felt privileged to race with two such great navigators and happy that we were all still running at the end. Nice to have so many veggie-friendly food options post-race!

Mrs. Tiny and I met up for an RPM class at Good Life. In retrospect, would have been a pretty great day for a MTB ride. I think we both agreed that the instructor was a bit over the top...after all, it is just a spin class.
