Running hills 6:19:00 [4]
ahr:159 max:188

Since this race included a bagillion feet (translate: I think 4000-5000) of elevation on the course, I thought it was only logical to record this as hills. Too bad AP doesn't include a "mountain" option! Also, since one of the 'hills' involved 2000+ feet of climbing in 3.5 km, it seemed silly to call this a race, since I was far from moving at breakneck speed (although, incidentally, I came close to breaking something by running headfirst into a tree!).

Climbing 1:00:00 [2]

Spent the day working on our ascending and rapelling skills in preparation for Untamed New England. Although we were with the guy all day, we probably only spent an hour or so each on the ropes themselves. Lots of fun though!

Orienteering race 5:00:00 [3]

Legs 3 &4 of the CNYO Regaine. Having never orienteered in the dark before, I chose only one control to go and get during my 3am-6am leg. It was only about 300-400 m off the road but a loooong way down the road to get it. Taking 2 hours for one control wasn't exactly efficient, but I considered it to be 'baby steps" into feeling comfortable navigating in the dark!

Orienteering race 8:30:00 [3]

Legs 1 & 2 of CNYO Regaine. Race was split into four 6-hour sections: 5+1 / 4+2/ 4+2 / 3+3. In each leg, you decided which portion to race and which portion to rest. You could do back-to-back rests, but not back-to-back runs.

Here's the order of what I did:
12:00-5:00pm - race
5:00-6:00 pm - rest
6:00-10:00 pm - race
10:00-12:00 am - rest
12:00-3:00 am - rest
3:00-6:00 am - race
6:00-8:00 am - rest
8:00-12:00 pm - race

Yes, it sucked getting up at 3am to go and find a control (I only did one!) in the dark!
