Orienteering 1:02:10 [5] 4.0 mi (15:33 / mi)

60 min Score O at the Member's Only Meet at Clearly Lake.
I was off to a great start but 20 min into the hour it started raining and I regretted taking my map out of the plastic cover. After another 20 min, my map was disintegrating and I could barley read it. With 10 min left, my map was gone. I looked at Dana's map and thought I could memory-O my way to one more control and home. I made it to the control and with 2 min left, I started hauling to the finish - but I took a wrong turn and ended up in the wrong camp ground. I continued to work my way around and eventually found our location but was 2min10sec late which landed me a 15 point penalty. My points went from 140 (14 controls x 10 points) to 125 (3 min late x 5 points). Lesson learned - check the weather before discarding the map bag!

I need to check my watch for distance.

Orienteering race 16:14 [5] 2.0 mi (8:07 / mi)

When Ian said GO I put my map away and just tried to hang on to the pack. I glanced at my map a few times but pretty much just pushed the pace to stick with the top runners. I thought I might get ahead at Ian and Julia who took a slightly longer route to control 4, but they caught up and passed me on the way to 5 and I couldn't reel them in on the sprint to the finish. TIRED!

Orienteering 22:00 [3] 2.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

Biz and I teamed up for the pairs orienteering. It was a fun exercise but because we had been to most of the controls during the score O and sprint, it wasn't very challenging and I was cranky. That said, Biz and I both totally blew our first controls - which were not on the sprint or score o course. I was also cashed from the earlier events.
