UNSW "Sprint"

Knew when I saw the distance this would be long, and so it proved, with my legs giving up around the 3km mark and generally feeling sluggish most of the way round.

Slow to get into it, with a gazillion controls and no cut circles hampering readability up to 6. Lost time on 4 initially navigating to 5, and then running past the tiny kite in the circle (first of many). Went hard right to 7 which looks much longer in hindsight. Could have taken better micro route choices around the circle at 10 & 11 (still can't decide on route to latter) then 12 was as bit of "what level" bingo.

More annoying lack of circle cutting at 13 & 14, back past them and up the steps to 16 (still no idea if you can easily get up from east, possibly quicker if so), tunnel for 18 and then again, passing it to 20 but didn't spot the gap behind out which would have been quicker.

Pretty over it by this stage, getting sloppy with route to 23 (went past 21) then plod to finish with a bit of a blister from toe taping.

Need to get back into proper routines, with much better planning ahead, a few time losses just from hesitant decision making which on 50-50 choices should be eradicated. Also need to get back into code checking & description reading - these one course events let you off generally.

Three sets of three different hills in CP with Bart, good muddy fun & great to do something like a proper session again.

Having been fine on Tuesday (maybe more substantial shoes?), toe started hurting during the last set, mainly on the downs. Will see how it survives sprint, but probably need to lay off it as much as possible for a few weeks - back to the bike and time to get into swimming.

Up Mt Wellington from the hostel, tried to take a flattish route up onto Mt Arthur early on, then once on the hillside enjoyed exploring the mtb singletrack around to the lookout, then dropped back down to town.
