QOC Greenbelt - Green

Nice course by Sam L kept us mostly out of the really nasty parts of the park. The snow made it a slog at times, but at least it wasn't as deep as I thought it might be. Lots of trail/road route choices, but in most cases the going wasn't any better than in the woods. (Only one very small section of road near the campgrounds was plowed, plus the main road.

O-vangelizing to some runner on the way to 1 (he had lots of questions about what we were doing, how many people do it, who can do it, etc) and entirely lost track of where I was on the trail, so I plowed over to check that the stream was where I thought it should be (it was) and then just followed that up.

Had some issues reading the deep ditches again, similar to those I had at Rosaryville. Depending on where it's located and how long it is, the symbol just looks too much like an index contour.

Did surprisingly well considering my body was already sore (sleeping on the floor didn't help) mildly dehydrated/hung over, and the forest conditions.

After the meet, metroed into DC and went to the National Botanical Garden. Cool, but I would like to go back in the summer when outside parts would have plants. The Conservatory was nice and had lots of plants I never saw before, but it was also small and some parts were closed for renovations. After that I walked around the Capitol and considered getting dinner in the city, but I was tired enough that I just headed home.

Beautiful weather all day - comfortable at Greenbelt in my short sleeves, and only needed a hoodie downtown.

Helped a friend move from Bethesda (16th floor, thankfully with a freight elevator, but it was at the far end of the hall) to Arlington (3rd floor walk up, thankfully with nice wide stairways and landings). This actually took about 6-7 people the majority of the day, but much of that was packing/loading. Made it in one trip which was surprising since we had no large vehicles (2 cars, 2 small SUVs, 1 minivan). Then I stayed over at the new place for pizza and beer with friend and the new roommate, and so I could go to Greenbelt in the morning.
