8c shoes: Green VJ Integrators

QOC Patapsco Avalon Area - Green

2+ km long first leg seemed to take forever... at least after that it was all heading back.

Number 3, cool ruin (basement) with huge pit and well nearby. Lots of people there and all thought it was neat.

4 to 5, debated going straight over 2 hills, then changed my mind and dropped to the trail and stayed low on trail and stream. This saved some climb but timewise I hit the control with the same people I had been seeing all day. Sam L, Bob F, and Kid Who Talks Incessantly And Will Not Shut Up.

6, a cliff in between two upper and lower trails. Fairly dangerous when approached from above. Bob took a nasty fall/slide here and ended up upside down on the slope, half on top of a rock. That easily could have been really bad. Was there with Sam and some others, and we got him right way up again. Thankfully no serious injury.

Still with Sam and KWTIAWNSU. On way to next big trail junction I said "This is not a collaborative effort, dude" and jetted off. Unfortunately, Sam sold me down the river. "She's fast, follow her." Kid was fast too, actually well faster than me, and I could not escape. Augh. After 7 I intentionally ran a longer route around and finally shook him. I get that he's trying to be friendly, but I cannot think with all that going on... I will talk route choice with you all day back at the finish. Not in the middle of the race. (I also think KWTIAWNSU is in a bit over his head coursewise.)

Most embarrassing moment of the day... upon arriving back by the pavilion, I could not find the stupid finish sawhorse. Look at your map, dummy. Oh, over there on the edge. Luckily I don't think anyone noticing me running in circles ;-)

AOWN... lots and lots of deer.

TGL and number 6 overall? How did that happen?

Note

Had to make a little spreadsheet to keep track of all the A-meet stuff. Which registrations are done, which lodgings are booked...

The fact that the early deadlines for fall meets and spring meets all land within a 2 month period makes things hard. I need to save money by having the lowest rates. But the result is laying out a huge amount all at once.
